This is a commission salary. During your training period you have a guaranteed pay, after that then you are on commission only.

    Cons

The management is terrible. The hours are long. And there is a lack of opportunity or growth with this company.

I have been working at Dillard's part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Good starting pay, opportunities to interact with customers, 25% discount and double discount several times a year.

    Cons

Some managers don't belong in their positions. No assistance for planning business opportunities. My manager treats me like I'm 5 years old because I didn't have any previous retail experience. Some people never get their full 1 dollar raise after training for no reason.

    Advice to Management

Please for the love of god clean house. No one cares anymore and I'm tired of working there. Several talented people in cosmetics are searching for new jobs because of the lazy cosmetics manager. You won't know what you're missing until everyone is gone.

    I worked at Dillard's part-time

    Pros

    25% employee discount on merchandise

    Cons

Managers overlook lazy employees; favoritism toward relatives employed within.
Employees handling incoming stock snatch best deals.

    Advice to Management

Be out in the store with the employees and customers and see what goes on day to day; don't hide in office or warehouse.

    I worked at Dillard's full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

    A paycheck, benefits, 401 compensation

    Cons

They promote people who are unqualified for that position, They hire and put bodies on the floor that can''t speak English or count money, while expecting experienced employees to train, as well as do their normal sales responsibility. Management only concerned about looking good on the backs of their sales associates. Expect associates to bring in customers and they do nothing to drive business.

    Advice to Management

Retire all of the management starting at the top level. Their style of management went out 30-40 years ago.
