I have been working at Dillard's full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Love my job. I really enjoy selling clothing and leading a team.

    Cons

Sales associates are too stressed out. Therefore, putting putting a damper on what should be a fun atmosphere.

    Advice to Management

Ditch the sph and take the area sales manager's word on how valuable a sales associate is to team success.
Use a profit sharing system to motivate sales associates to sell as much as possible as a team.

    I worked at Dillard's full-time

    Pros

Great discounts, make great relationships and networking through clients, many brands offer special deals to specialists selling for them, you have the chance to get creative with the way you merchandise and sell.

    Cons

The hours are long... the markdowns are a pain! You have to look your best and fight through the pain of standing all day- it can be rough. Some people are all about the money and very competitive, so it can be difficult making sales on a floor with 5 other people in the same area. Takes a while to move up for some departments.

    Advice to Management

More incentives and freedom to sell in areas we succeed in.

    Pros

Loved working with customers. If you love to shop AND can talk to anyone, retail is for you. They provide great ongoing training (albeit mostly computerized). Still have employee friends there.

    Cons

You MUST work ALL holidays (which is true
, I hear, for any major retail chain). Better communication between managers and teammates.

    Advice to Management

    Pros

Good discounts, additional discount on sales

    Cons

Ridiculous sales quotas, if a customer returns an item you sold it deducts from your sales quota

I have been working at Dillard's full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

The pay is obviously one of the easiest pros for working at Dillard's. The harder you work and more sales you make, the more money you make.
A fee of the other upsides are most of the managers to me, very helpful, seem to be in your best interest, care about their jobs etc.
And lastly the discount is pretty awesome, especially when they have the extra employee sales, and/or additionals.

    Cons

The associates. It's hard enough to make quotas and goals, let alone fighting with other associates for sales. Not only that but 80% of them never want to be there ever, and just expect sales to walk up to them. Which then causes bad attitudes

    Advice to Management

Really look past experience on resumes and look for driven people who are striving to do their best. Also try harder to make it about a team or working together even tho we have to make our own individual goals.
