    I worked at Dillard's full-time

    Pros

Dillard's spends a fair of amount of time training associates and depending on the department you may get seasonal training.

    Cons

The traffic was low, the goals were high.

    I worked at Dillard's part-time

    Pros

Selling more upscale products and luxury brands. Some really terrific co-workers. Employee discount is excellent.

    Cons

They don't tell you about your pay getting cut if you don't make your sales goals. Usually learn about it AFTER you've taken the job and are on the floor. After 3 cuts, you're fired. Because department stores are competing with online and discount retailers, sales associates are expected to be more like telemarketers, calling their customers all the time about special promotions. Customers really don't like all the calls! Everyone I work with wants to leave, retire or go part-time now. You have to be cut-throat and step on other associates' turfs to even get close to making your numbers. Stores don't keep a lot of stock either, so very often you lose sales because you don't have the size, color, etc. of what the customer wants.

    Advice to Management

Your employees are miserable, and you need to listen to them. You who are making the big bucks need to figure out how to make this model work without beating up on your ASMs and expecting employees to dial for dollars all the time.

    I have been working at Dillard's part-time

    Pros

Pay is really well starting out and can be offered a raise. Multiple chances to win gratis. Good with vacation. Get holiday pay. Room to move up. Managers work well with trying to help you meet sales goals. Good part time job to have because it's not too stressful but for full timers, it may be.

    Cons

Can get a pay cut at each review if you don't meet the harsh sales quotas. Must get 1 credit a month for part time. Hard to meet sales goals as a part timer.

    Advice to Management

Inform new employees of how everything works with pay cuts/raises and sales quotas. I wasn't told anything upon hiring, had to figure it out myself.
