I worked at Dillard's part-time for less than a year

    Pros

Decent starting pay, employee discount was also nice. Made some great friends there

    Cons

Very unattainable sales goals. Managers play favorites and jump through hoops to save certain employees while firing others for the same reason (numbers).

    Advice to Management

Enforce the same rules to EVERYONE

I worked at Dillard's full-time for more than a year

    Pros

The friends you will make, the experience in competitive workforce, the things you will learn from each department, the employee discount

    Cons

Unreasonable quotas Pay cuts if you don’t hit your goal then fired if you don’t hit it again Long work days with no work and family life balance at all. You are about as valuable as your last month of good sales.

    Advice to Management

Somebody up in there seriously, look at the statistical facts of how retail stores are going down in business because of online shopping. With this information someone needs to MAKE A CHANGE to the pay structure for the associates so it’s not impossible to hit your quota. And really? Pay cut after not hitting your quota? Then fired? It’s Dillards, an old department store people barely go to unless there is clearance and...

I worked at Dillard's full-time for less than a year

    Pros

Store is nice as well as coworkers.

    Cons

Another company robbing people of their time and energy. The commission policy is a huge scam and is almost impossible to achieve if its not holiday/event season. Make sure that the commission is explained thoroughly. Managment pushes that if you sell the newer products youll do great but theres barley any traffic if theres not a store sale. The commission rate varies per product, and returns count against you which...

    Advice to Management

Take a serious look at your commission policy for this department. You cant motivate your employees by just telling them what to expect in regards to income, we have to see the results of our hard work period. The way the employees are paid in this department is disheartening and is not fair at all with what the job actually requires.

I worked at Dillard's part-time for less than a year

    Pros

My coworkers were wonderful for the most part. They were quick to help you out without claiming your sale/commission. The pay was decent and the commission (once you started making one) was good.

    Cons

The management is incompetent. My department never knew about sales or promotions and often the customers knew more than us. They didn’t train me fully before scheduling me to work on my own and then would be angry that I had to ask for help or made mistakes. Three weeks after my last day (I had moved 15 hours away by this point), my former manager contacted me asking if I filled out my notice and paperwork with our HR...

I have been working at Dillard's part-time for more than a year

    Pros

Get paid weekly Discount is great 50% of clothing when you start so you will look nice.

    Cons

If you are a student DO NOT DO THIS JOB Commision is almost set up to fail not worth it. Manager was evil not joking They don't care about their employees

    Advice to Management

When you hire students don't be surprised when their schedules change and they might need time off during finals week to study. I knew people who hid books and would study in backrooms.

I worked at Dillard's part-time for less than a year

      Pros

Coworker's personalities are bright and fun. Busy work, fairly flexible scheduling.

      Cons

Commission, if people don't like you they will try to get you fired, low pay, too many people scheduled for not enough customers.

      Advice to Management

Actually allow workers to switch departments if they are unhappy at one, complete the training as it is meant to be, allow trainees to explore departments, supervise training.

I have been working at Dillard's part-time for more than a year

        Pros

They pay more than any other retail jobs.

        Cons

They pay more but in the end of the day they take that money away from you. The back stab and will fire you without over thinking it! They set you up for failure! Also they break laws and try to cover their footprints. They make you sign so many papers to set you up, one of those papers say you are not allowed to take Dillard’s to court. Why will someone have a paper like well it’s because they know they are breaking...
