I have been working at Dillard's part-time for more than a year

    Pros

There is a high base salary for sales associates, especially for departments that have commission on top of their base goals. Raises during review period are consistent and can result in long-term salary growth.

    Cons

Equipment is outdated, and while recent software developments have made the POS system look nicer, the underlying systems are showing their age. The use of a constant number (SPH) in determining sales goals regardless of customer flow in the store means that employees are either worn down by the sales goals and leave, or heavily...

    Advice to Management

Emphasize the systems that are used to manage customers in training. Increase the promotion of your stores to a younger demographic, or increase the ability of local stores to help promote charitable and local traffic to your stores. Either allow for team goals, adapt the SPH goal to traffic flow, or adapt your goals to allow for associates to work together to obtain their sales goals without fighting each other....

I worked at Dillard's full-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

if you are able to get full time the benefits are decent, the employee discount is really amazing with 40% off most anything.

    Cons

hours are not flexible due to skeleton staffing, if you work in specilty areas such as lingerie they expect you to spend time at home and off the clock preparing and coordernating events for the store even when you are not management and are paid their base hourly rate, they hold you to high sales goals that create friction and animosty between coworkers

    Advice to Management

dont require non management level employees to be off floor coordiating events while holding them responsible for sales goals. hire enough to have proper store coverage.

I have been working at Dillard's full-time for less than a year

      Pros

      Great and helpful coworkers.

      Cons

Impossible to get a raise, unattainable sales goals, unapproachable upper management, lack of communication. No room for growth/ empty promises

      Advice to Management

The store is huge, you do not see everything. We do plenty of work on top of selling. The low traffic has a lot to do with low sales per hour.

      I worked at Dillard's full-time

      Pros

The pay is not bad at all. Could be better but not bad.

      Cons

Well I have a lot more bad to say about Dillards they are good. I’ve been with Dillards off and on for about three years now. And I must say my experience with Dillards was probably the worst experience I’ve ever had. The first several months I actually enjoyed it because I do like retail where I’ve been in retail all my life. But this particular establishment in retail is probably the most odd place it ever worked for....
