I have been working at Dimensional Fund Advisors full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

unlimited bottled water and soft drink, nice looking office and surrounding gardens, great career potential if you can get toxic middle management onside

    Cons

The company misleads new employees during the interview process, and the culture of toxic middle management still exists even though the CEOs are making an attempt to combat it. There is a double standard when it comes to promotions and recognition for work, definitely not based on merit but rather how well you suck up to before said toxic middle management.

    Advice to Management

You can do all the employee satisfaction surveys you wont but unless you learn to question managers true intention and identify behavior based off personal feelings rather than professional judgement then the culture and success of the firm will not change. There is too many people with influence working for DFA that have a self preservation vs success of the firm mentality

I worked at Dimensional Fund Advisors full-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

I’m honestly shocked at how many positive reviews there are. They have to be fake ... The only positives are superficial things like they have good food in the cafeteria and the building is nice (though you’ll have to see it every day, since you’re not ever allowed to work from home). It’s a great place to work if you’re a white male though! They seem to love those!

    Cons

No focus on career development. No focus on diversity or inclusion. Strongly against working remotely.

    Advice to Management

    Wake up - it’s 2019!

I have been working at Dimensional Fund Advisors full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

Great people to work with. Product you can get behind and feel good about what you do. Awesome work life balance.

    Cons

Pay discrepancy between 2 people in the same role can be astronomical. How upper management has not corrected this is unclear to me. Some departments seem to have the upper hand over others. Some roles do not have any authority to make decisions.

    Advice to Management

Start paying people in the same role fairly. You’re going to lose some pretty awesome people that have loved working for Dimensional over something that you can easily correct.

I worked at Dimensional Fund Advisors full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

Some good people - who are all trying to leave for better opportunities with more flexible work arrangements, transparency, and fairness.

    Cons

There is unfairness throughout the firm such as favoritism, lack of transparency, and a huge pay discrepancies without any rationale.

    Advice to Management

Create a more fair, inclusive, and flexible work environment before more employees leave to work at competitors.
