I worked at Dimensional Fund Advisors for less than a year

    Pros

    Some good and smart people.

    Cons

Typical mutual fund that puts marketing first and a quality product second. For every quality employee there are at least 3 knuckleheads. Lots of meaningless work that is not adding value to the client or the firm. What they say and what they do are two very different things.

    Disapproves of CEO

I worked at Dimensional Fund Advisors full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

Some good people - who are all trying to leave for better opportunities with more flexible work arrangements, transparency, and fairness.

    Cons

There is unfairness throughout the firm such as favoritism, lack of transparency, and a huge pay discrepancies without any rationale.

    Advice to Management

Create a more fair, inclusive, and flexible work environment before more employees leave to work at competitors.

    No opinion of CEO

I have been working at Dimensional Fund Advisors full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Growing company with so much potential. Technology department has amazing people and brilliant minds. Great culture and they invest a lot into their employees. Great fringe benefits.

    Cons

There are a lot of politics. Differing people in power have competing agendas that always get in the way of moving the company forward. It takes a long time to get anything done because of that.

    Advice to Management

Have less in-fighting and don’t pit middle management against each other. This will help the company grow and thrive even more.

        StarStarStarStarStar
          Current Employee - Anonymous Employee

I have been working at Dimensional Fund Advisors full-time

          Pros

Provides a great environment to grow your analytical, technical, and interpersonal skills. Projects have the potential to impact the entire department through meaningful process improvements.

          Cons

Some of the daily tasks can seem repetitive, but the extra time you have can be spent enacting change in any area you find interesting.

          Advice to Management

Survey various groups for projects that have had a large and tangible impact on the department, but which haven't necessarily been seen by upper management.
