I have been working at Diplomat Specialty Pharmacy full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Diplomat is a good starter company if you are entering the pharmacy world.
    Good lunch vendors.
    *Some* management is okay.

    Cons

NO work/life balance, you can only miss 3 times in a year. They do not care if you are sick, if your child is sick, if you get into a car accident on the way to work, if you broke your foot, etc. If you are not at work you get an occurrence.

Most Management does not listen to their employees. I get it, you can't please everyone but when the majority of your employees are offering the same suggestions to improve the workplace, then you need to make changes.

The pay is below industry standard for any other specialty pharmacy. Diplomat is the LARGEST independent specialty pharmacy who makes MILLIONS (even after all the bills and fees are paid). There's no reason why we should not be paid decently!

    Advice to Management

Before this company went public you took great care of your employees, but afterwards it became all about the shareholders and money. We stopped getting the Christmas gift, no budget for team building activities, raises are nominal and it feels as though you just sopped listening to what we need. You get rid of all your best employees or they leave because you don't want to take care of them. Get it together before its too late!

    Pros

    Fast paced
    Room for growth
    Schedule (9-5/1 late shift)
    Benefits
    Atmosphere

    Cons

    Lack of communication
    Leadership
    Favoritism
    Politics
    Workload and expectations
    Attendance policy
    HR communication

    Advice to Management

Value employees as individuals, not just a team driven by numbers. Listen to employees and their concerns. Majorly improve communication interdepartmentally

I have been working at Diplomat Specialty Pharmacy full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

    Helping patients with specialty medications

    Cons

Favoritism plagues this company. They grew too quickly and ended up with managers that are not qualified and do not even know simple computer functions or how to even spell the medication names correctly. They rely heavily on dangling promotions in front of you then choosing someone else after you’ve put in the work. That way they can later tell you it’s what you need to work towards, when they actually just want you to do the extra work without any benefits to yourself. Management delegates all tasks to those below them then takes credit for all the work as their own. Their attendance policy is 3 marks in a year, which includes leaving early, calling off, or being more than 6 minutes late. No sick days are given. PTO has to be formally submitted and approved by a supervisor prior to using. If you sit in a meeting with upper management for more than 10 minutes you’ll realize they despise their employees and think they’re incompetent whiny morons. If you apply for a job and don’t get the position HR never notifies you.

    Advice to Management

Listen to your workplace surveys. Quit waving around your flags stating you were in the top places to work over 3 years ago. Since going public, you have not been in the top places to work. Hire some actual professionals for HR. No one there knows what they’re doing. Make an attendance policy that allows people to have life events. I’ve never worked for a company before where you can off 3 times in a year with over 100 hours of PTO to use and you get written up for it. Reevaluate your managers. Appreciate the good employees.

I worked at Diplomat Specialty Pharmacy full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Diplomat provides those entering into the specialty pharmacy industry with a good opportunity to gain entry level experience needed to advance.

    Cons

Management has always struggled to keep up with maintaining training of staff, process changes, and are generally under-qualified for their positions within operations. The pay is low compared to industry standards. The work-life balance is not good. There is a high level of stress present for every position within operations.

    Advice to Management

I would invest in more consistent team training, budgeting team building time, and be more accepting of advice from your staff below you; refrain from authoritarian management styles.
