I worked at Direct Legal and Collections full-time

    Pros

    Good environment and facilities
    Pay was fair
Willing to promote from within (see cons)

    Cons

Management were not strictly professional, and "friends" with some employees. Sort of if your face fits culture. If you are a good collector you can pretty much get away with anything.

    Advice to Management

Try being more honest, its not rocket science1

    Pros

Nice offices, good pay, good benefits and bonuses are good if you achieve them. Friendly colleagues and good employee restaurant.

    Cons

Your face has to fit, they have values but don't seem to follow them. Lot of pressure to achieve targets and lots of disciplinary action.

    Advice to Management

Should be more honest, consistent and ethical when dealing with employees.

Former Employee - Telephone Debt Negotiator in Brackley, England (UK)

    Pros

    Its location
The people are very friendly and there is a strong team atmosphere
The newly built offices make it a comfortable place to work

    Cons

The nature of the debt collection business makes it an unpleasent environment to work in
Very robotic in terms of script when speaking to debtors and if you deviate off script to tender the needs of the situation you are pulled up for it in training reviews.
Long stints on the dialler system.

    Advice to Management

To retain staff there should be a commission structure in place as alot of the skills you learn at DLC can be transferred into a sales environment where you can earn alot more money for alot less grief from customers.

Former Employee - Collections Agent, Trainer in Brackley, England (UK)
    Recommends

    Pros

They are an employee oriented company. Focused on training, development , and support for all departments and levels of the company. Most of the management is fair and willing to work with you when life rears its head (such as schedule changes and time off). You are contracted specific hours and not scheduled on a weekly or by weekly bases. DLC has a standardized pay grade that is common knowledge to all employees. It is great because you also know what you need to do to get to the next pay grade. Good work is acknowledged. There is a bonus scheme as incentive for hard work

    Cons

It can be stressful and as a collections agent you will take a lot of battering from debtors. If you are not careful you can feel the work is to scripted and routine.

    Advice to Management

Continue to invest in your employees they are the key to success.
