I worked at Discovery Clothing full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

The employees you work with definitely make the experience fun.

    Cons

Once you become a manager the pay definitely does not match the work. They want you to complete so many task yet they cut back on the staff. I quit when they made me choose between work and school. They told me they werent going to be able to work with my school schedule because it wasnt fair to the other managers that I have a set schedule and they dont yet I was the only manager in school. Funny thing was that they had a program (which I forgot the name) that they would raise money in their stores to help students with tuition, school supplies etc. But they didnt support their employees in school.

    Advice to Management

Be generous with you pay. You run your business like a chinese factory. The ones doing all the work in the stores and dealing with majority of the conflict are the ones getting paid less while the ones that go to the stores demanding things get paid more. And support your employees who are trying to make something with themselves.

I worked at Discovery Clothing part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

It was an enjoyable atmosphere to help customers pick out their clothing and outfits. I also enjoyed dressing the mannequins and organizing the clothing rows in both dressy and casual sides. Coworkers were nice. The hiring manager loved me.

    Cons

Went under new management. Gave me attitude when they were telling me a mistake I made. They would roll their eyes. Totally unprofessional. I always corrected my mistakes but they always accused me of making them when I was doing my job right. (But it's okay for the others to slack off right?) I felt discriminated against since I was the only Caucasian woman working there.

    Advice to Management

Be nice to everyone, please. When you want to give someone constructive feedback/criticism, please be respectful and professional to everyone.

I worked at Discovery Clothing part-time

    Pros

Great for high school and college students because they try to work with your schedule. If you have a bubbly personality you will have a lot of advancement opportunities. Employee discount on all merchandise and easy going on taking days off.

    Cons

At the location I was at, the managers were very unprofessional, ghetto and unqualified for their position. They would come in a bad mood about they're babydaddy problems and take it out on the employees. When someone from corporate would come to the store, the managers would go to the break room and say bad stuff about corporate and they didn't care if the part-time employees heard them. That was very demoralizing to hear management talk negatively about the company. Be prepared to deal with very rude customers with no manners.

    Advice to Management

Stop bringing your personal problems to work and act like a professional in a business setting. HQ should check their cameras whenever corporate is in a store and see when the managers are in a huddle somewhere talking.
