I worked at Discovery Point Child Development Centers full-time

    Pros

The center was fairly clean. It is also in a good suburban area, so it can be easily accessed to and from home. Theres no specific drop off time, so if you want to drop your child off at 3pm thats okay.

    Cons

A teacher dragged a child across the cafeteria in front of other parents. She was terminated but that makes you question what would've happened if she hadn't been seen, or if that happens regularly. Some of the teachers are not passionate about the job, some of them just want a paycheck. The management does not listen or take into consideration what the parents want for their children

    Advice to Management

Stop hiring ppl that are not qualified to get the job done. Parents want to trust your staff, that can't happen if you don't.

I worked at Discovery Point Child Development Centers full-time

    Pros

    It was a job.

    Cons

The mgmt. were not truthful with employees or parents. The pay is horrible for a teacher w/ a Bachelor's degree. I had to purchase all of my own supplies for my class. Nothing in the classroom ever got fixed, and the children never had toys on the playground to play with. They gave them a cardboard box.

    Advice to Management

Take some classes on effective management skills.

    Pros

Excellent place to work at everyday is an amazing adventure. Excellent people to work with also excellent staff. All plans very organized. Kids seemingly always happy when them and parents enters and exits the building. Excellent communication skills it feels more like a home place than a job I truly miss it and I'm strongly considering returning.

    Cons

In my opinion Discovery Point has no cons but I do wish they had a location in Palmetto, GA which is close to my home.

I have been working at Discovery Point Child Development Centers (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Discovery Point is a good place to start in the industry. You will learn to handle large amounts of children with ease.

    Cons

Discovery Point is a large volume center with the goal of fulling and in most cases overfilling the schools. Owners do not turn away any children and in many cases find themselves understaffed. The organization does not support advancement and employees are not valued. Due to this many times management is unable to gain and retain quality employees making turnover extremely high. Wages and benefits are not competitive and tend to fall below the norm of what other facilities offer.

    Advice to Management

Revise your franchise. Pay more attention to the details of operations and give more to the employees that run the facilities.
