I worked at Disney Consumer Products full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Perks are great! Free entrance to Theme Parks and discounts to Disney Stores. Your spouse even gets his or her own Entrance Pass.

    Cons

Where to begin - first of all there's constant changes with Disney. So if you don't mind with changes, then Disney is your place to be. It's unfortunate that Disney isn't the happiest place to work at. There is constant layoffs with Disney which I'm surprised when Disney itself is doing well. During my 5 years there, it seemed like you would put your sweat into your job and Disney can easily replace you or don't care about you. There is no work/life balance at all being in the accounting world. Expect to work a lot. Everyone was bummed that they disallowed working from home (YOA). Also if you want a career change, don't expect HR to help you. I reached out to HR MULTIPLE TIMES (emails and phone calls) and they won't assist you or follow up with you if you need guidance. Also, it's hard to move up unless you kiss butt to management which I saw multiple times (when they didn't deserve it). I'm much happier and stress free where I am at now than being at Disney.

    Advice to Management

Talk to your team - get to know them! Reward your team!!!! Your team are the busy bees and if they don't feel appreciated, they will eventually leave. Keep the morale up! Our team building events became work days pretty much...

I worked at Disney Consumer Products as a contractor (More than a year)

    Pros

Disney is a world-class company with projects and IP the envy of all. You get to work on projects everybody knows about, and many people love.

    Cons

Disney has a complicated internal system for determining which projects get support, and there's a big divide between management and the people who do the work.

    Advice to Management

A lot of employees don't trust upper management's pronouncements because they seem like marketing. Giving more realistic feedback and making employees aware of what factors go into budgets and planning would make people feel more secure, and allow them to plan better.

I worked at Disney Consumer Products as a contractor (Less than a year)

    Pros

Compensation was fair. Excellent on-boarding and very streamlined processes (e.g. On site Apple Genius Bar) Benefits were great even as a contractor. Colleagues are REALLY sharp and experts in product development, licensing and marketing.

    Cons

Politics! Senior management in the franchise I worked at was toxic! (VP was great!) Director was like the character "Miranda Priestly" from Devil wears Prada. She was rude and even made staff cry. In the short time I was there 1 person left (who was recruited from another Disney division) and another very talented Mgr from a licensee quit after 1 year. Lastly a fantastic Asst. Mgr was terminated wrongfully. HR was really focused on CYA and not serving employees. I ended my contract and would never go back to this franchise in Licensing. This part of Disney was not the happiest place on earth.

    Advice to Management

Just because you have been there over 10 years does not constitute you being a good manager or leader.

    Cons

    Advice to Management

    Be more down to earth

    Pros

Great perks, flexible hours, reasonable work amount, good life and work balance.

    Cons

politics everywhere. The most of employees want to stay as a life time job, not many movements.

    Pros

The team I worked with was great. We worked well together. Overall the company is trying to allow for more work/life balance. There are many classes (worked related, growth/development related and misc.) offered both during work hours and on your own time. The company's volunteer program is vast.

    Cons

Disney used to have a layoff every 3 to 7 years, but these past 4 years there were 7 layoffs and that was just DCP. It makes for poor morale. Your immediate management can make it nice, bearable or lousy.
