I have been working at Disney Store full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Great perks and benefits, depending on the store you can have a great culture as well

    Cons

Lack of growth and upper management is very biased.

    Advice to Management

Look further into biased promotions. They tend to not perform as well as those that maybe don’t play the politics role as much.

I have been working at Disney Store part-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

I’ve been with the company now for 3 years, and I’ve had a blast doing so. You get lovely perks such as allowing you to enter the parks at Orlando and in California with a main gate pass for free and you get to take 3 other people with you for a limited amount of days. You get free tickets as well throughout your time with them. You start out with 20% off merchandise and then once you reach your 3rd year with the company, you recieve 35% off the merchandise. There are lots and lots of perks to taking a vacation to Disney World or Disneyland (too many to list)
You get to work with fun and seeet people (usually, I have come across a few questionable people who only lasted a few months) You create friendships with your coworkers easily, especially if everyone is heavily into Disney.

    Cons

It can be a bit overwhelming. Depending on who your manager is, they could be breathing down your neck. I, personally, am extremely shy and when I first started, the store manager was... a bit too much. Whenever I worked with her she would push me and push me to do better even when I was doing all that I could. They really want you to sell sell sell. So you’re kind of... not forcing product into the guests hands, but you are... being a bit pushy to the guests sometimes. You must greet all guests with smiles and positivity. Always tend to guests with suggestions and solutions. Management hates the “Are you finding everything alright today? Yeah? Alright awesome” thing. They’d rather hear “What brings you into the kingdom (store) today? What kind of princess or Jedi gear are you looking for today? (who are you shopping for?) Tinker bell sprinkled her pixie dust all around the store so be sure to look at all the treasures we have today! (There’s a huge clearance sale so please buy more than one thing or else our UPT will go down and I’ll get talked to at the end of my shift today) lol
There’s just a lot to deal with especially with parents. It’s the closest thing to the actual parks, so they go to the Disney Store to hear that “Have a Magical Day” at the end, and they just usually expect a lot out of you. It’s not a horrible job, it’s just not for everyone basically.
Also... ever since “we went green” back in like... March of 2018.... guests always get “surprised” and super pissy about buying the reusable tote for 99 cents. Like... c’mon people... it’s almost been a year. You know we don’t have plastic bags anymore. Either walk out with your items, put it in the other bags you have, or buy the goddamn reusable tote. Don’t get mad at me, you’re the one being cheap for not buying a stupid $1 bag.... that’s probably the worst thing about working here lol.

    Advice to Management

Please. Please. Please. Schedule us part timers more than just a few hours a week. Sometimes I don’t work for a whole week and get paid $27 for the next week because I get scheduled for only 3 hours. The hours here are terrible.
