I worked at Disney Studios as a contractor

    Pros

Great content. Powerhouse entertainment giant. Good place to get your foot in the entertainment door and then move on to higher-salaried positions.

    Cons

They rarely hire their outside contractors (and there are many) for staff positions. Ageism exists.

    Advice to Management

Research, prove and compare information and complaints. No alternative facts.

I have been working at Disney Studios full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

Leadership at The Walt Disney Company really want to create a culture of great leadership principles that would make the company and Studio a great place to work IF they could get all leaders to abide by those principles. The Studio is relatively well organized from a technology, operations and distribution stand point. The people are great to work with.

    Cons

Some of the senior executives at the Studio say they embody the spirit of TWDC leadership, but they really don't and are ineffective at leadership. Like all Studios, there are a lot of politics, especially as you go higher up the ladder.

    Advice to Management

It's about self-awareness and being effective. If your organization and culture is not what you want, you should take a hard look at how you are leading the group and that probably means you need to change your tactics.

I worked at Disney Studios full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Great projects, organised teams, good benefits (at level of other big studios), good facilities for employees and nice offices. Who wouldn't want to work at Disney!

    Cons

Can feel a bit like a small cog in a big machine. Very important who you rub elbows with. Can be clicky. Committee of executives sending projects in different directions can be difficult to navigate!

    Advice to Management

Changing your mind is an executive's prerogative. But having multiple executives sending projects in multiple directions and not communicating with each other can be costly and ultimately affect quality.

I worked at Disney Studios as a contractor (More than a year)

    Pros

Great people to work with. Work life balance is the best I've seen. Project funding is never an issue. Flexible schedule. If you have a family and want a 9-5 job it's hard to find better.

    Cons

No freebies even on company products. Lots of unnessary meetings. Working with other divisions can be like steering the titanic. Some legacy projects.

    Advice to Management

    Cut down on unnessary meetings.
