    Pros

Flexible hours, and enthusiastic team mates.

    Cons

Contractors make up a significant part of the IT workforce, but are excluded from most employee fringe benefits, like free movie screenings. They also make you park in a lot that's over half a mile away and then take a shuttle to the office.

    Advice to Management

Either treat your contractors well for their valuable contribution (you're certainly paying dearly for it), or hire more FTEs.

    Pros

There is immediate access to the industry's top talent and wide exposure with a huge upside for professional growth and development.

    Cons

Studio politics often makes decision making a slow process. Thinking outside the box and taking calculated risks seem to be non-existent in this studio culture.

    Advice to Management

Spend more time and resources in making films with richer stories to reflect the wide interests of its vast audience.

I worked at Disney Studios full-time

    Pros

A group of extremely smart, collaborative people

    Cons

Legacy issues between departments create rifts. Current management is an old boys club where most of the major positions are made up of middle age white guys. Locker room attitude and atmosphere when limited to this.

    Advice to Management

more VP level executive management balance consisting of women and minorities. Greater emphasis on corporate studio level cross functional roles for major initiatives rather than out of a department.

I have been working at Disney Studios full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

large company- opportunities to work on multiple projects and meet a ton of people

    Cons

hard to advance- you get a lot of opportunities to work on cool projects, but you're not getting paid for them. So it's a great place to gain your experience and then move somewhere that will actually pay you for your experience and skills.

    Advice to Management

promote or you'll lose them- most of my colleagues left to competitors for that reason.

I have been working at Disney Studios full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

If you have a deep love for the Disney brand, it's certainly worth exploring. Sure medical benefits are great and free access to Disney parks is pretty cool. Depending on where you work too, that makes a difference as well, some gigs are more challenging than others.

    Cons

All the nostalgia and fun of the Disney of yesteryear are gone. Suits rule the kingdom now both at the studio and the parks in cold and calculated manners that take the fun, personality and family out of what is supposed to be a company built for families, by families. HR no longer serves as protection for their cast-members, they are more worried about protecting the company. Long hours, burnt out staff, no appreciation from senior management, commissaries that serves the same bland food, offices that look more like you're in an accounting firm or insurance company than a creative environment and no time or real desire to help anyone move up the ranks to better themselves.

    Advice to Management

Listen to your employees, forget about the surveys and bogus group meetings and start making some changes around here. Foster an environment of fun, like PIXAR, Disney Animation, Google, etc do...inspire your staffs to dream, be creative and actually have a voice. My days are numbered here, I've quit better jobs than this.
