Toxic Environment
Apr 15, 2022 - Family Support Specialist in Las Vegas, NVRecommendCEO ApprovalBusiness OutlookPros
Good benefits - health, retirement, and vacation and sick leave.
Cons
The Training Unit at the PDC is easy. But once you are assigned an office, it’s sink or swim from there. Upper management are not good people. They have no leadership skills and enjoy belittling you in front of others. Management purposely holds people back and bullies them so it looks like they’re doing their job! They act like they are there to help you but they aren’t. If you have a question about your case, you’re told to look in the manual for the answer with no guidance. Then the next day you will be belittled in front of everyone for not finding the correct answer and reprimanded for taking too long on your case. If you ask a question you receive a very passive aggressive response. And the cycle just continues. It’s extremely hard to promote within the Division. You basically have to be related to someone in Carson City in order to do so. And this is all why they have a high turnover rate.

Pros
Job Security after 1 year.
Cons
Lack of training, old software programs or unknown software programs that nobody uses. Pretty tough to improve your resume when you don't have access to current technology. They do not develop their existing employees, put out job notices that disqualify staff that are already doing the exact job they are hiring for. but cannot qualify for. I've never seen anything like it, they waste a tremendous amount of money turning over staff when they could save half that via training existing staff and the other half by retaining that staff through proper training opportunities. Zero career paths defined, HR is like stepping into 1980, might as well be doing it all manually since there isn't any feedback from management that shows they value their Human Resources....
