I have been working at Dollar Tree full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

well established company with good/kind & hardworking lower level employees, pay & benefits are mediocre

    Cons

Too many managers & like to micro-manage employees, its uncomfortable. You never feel secure in your job, you get direction from multiple angles & do more than your fair share, NO TRAINING

    Advice to Management

EASE UP! Your employees do a lot more than they are paid to

I have been working at Dollar Tree full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

This is a good start to a career in retail. Interesting business model.

    Cons

Very antiquated, stringent, non progressive company. There is no career path so turnover is quite high. Office moral is extremely low, it is depressing and almost toxic. There are no company perks to speak of. HR seems to be broken and ineffective.

    Advice to Management

How about appreciating and investing in your PEOPLE.

I worked at Dollar Tree part-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

My first retail sales position. loved the customers and coworkers. The management tried to accommodate my schedule as best as possible.

    Cons

You are near the entrance so you encounter people that may not have the best intentions. Need more of a security presence. Main headquarters not aware of fixing things in a timely fashion.

    Advice to Management

The managers can only have a certain number of employees on schedule. Please be aware when you only have two people on the register that long lines form, customer satisfaction level drops because of this.

    Pros

Great merchandise and support; outstanding bonus program. Field and regional personnel were excellent and did a great job supporting needs of districts and regions.

    Cons

Payroll formula challenging; aggressive growth-possibility of store's cannibalizing one another. Somewhat limited technology. Better training for Managers. Not a lot of money put into maintaining or upgrading stores once they are open.

    Advice to Management

Develop an ongoing remodel/upgrade plan. The stores see a lot of traffic and product pass through them and they get shopped hard. Carpet, paint, graphics get worn down.
