I have been working at Dollar Tree part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

The best thing about working there are the people I work with/for. My coworkers are friendly and everyone gets along. My bosses will work with me on an schedule change as long as I give at least 2hrs notice but I always give more unless I'm sick.

    Cons

The challenges of working here are the hours constantly getting cut, not having enough people on a shift, and not being able to get everything you are required to get done, finished. The computers/registers are always messing up and so is the air conditioning.

    Advice to Management

To corporate: take better care of your stores, see to your customers comfort, and ease your employees job. Happy customers and employees makes your job easier as well.

I have been working at Dollar Tree part-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

I think it is a good place for people on a low budget to shop. At least they hired me. Some places won't hire older people. I like my coworkers. Good thing it leaves plenty of time to look for other jobs.

    Cons

Not enough hours. You can't survive on this job alone. Coworkers all say the same thing. 5 minutes training for the cash register. I've never used one before and I told them that up front. The store manager snaps at me for asking questions about things that I couldn't possibly know. I think she may be burned out. Probably a a good enough person. Even a customer said "I can't believe how they treat their employees". Upper management seem to be happy. I know that sounds typical. I think there is rapid turnover by design.

    Advice to Management

Be fair. Hire less people for more hours. Don't come in the store and make criticisms of the way things are and make lots of demands, then the very next day cut hours making it impossible. Just be fair. They have good people.

    Pros

Great customers good merchandise best prices

    Cons

Way too much work for unloading boxes for 2 people
People wouldn't show up for work because they were getting paid 8.00 to unload 2300 boxes
It's a shame of Dollar tree to not offer more
Unless you have a background and can't get anything else or a high school student this job is a dump.
Stores always messy...people dnt show while gm makes 45,000 or more

    Advice to Management

Help your team and your stores. Gm should be doing more than putting out seasonal. ..Dollar Tree needs a company restructuring

I worked at Dollar Tree full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

I enjoyed most the people I worked with. I loved most the customers as well. Some days were pretty good others just drained you

    Cons

Put you thru a lot. If they don't like you they will find anyway possible to make you quit and when that don't work they will write you up for things you didn't do. And when you refuse to sign them they will tell you that you are suspended until further notice. And than they simply don't ever return your calls and when you reach out to human resources or next available. They don't want to return your phone calls or emails either.

    Advice to Management

Management needs to learn to deal with there own battles and not push them off on everyone else.

I worked at Dollar Tree full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Training and developing the management- teams want to learn more

    Cons

No quality of life, regional team expects you to work all the time and gives little support.

    Advice to Management

Listen to your management team and the associates that work there, treat them as a resource. Be humble when you visit instead of treating people that they are doing something wrong and then reinvest back into the stores and let Family Dollar carrying their own weight after all you decided to buy them not the store teams.
