I worked at Dollar Tree (Less than a year)

    Pros

Love the Environment and the people I've worked with

    Cons

    Except the Manager
Don't expect to have a life outside of your work schedule

    Advice to Management

Don't punish people that don't wan to come in for someone who called out. Hire more people. Give real consequences to those who do call out in an untimely manner.
And when the person who finally does call out in a timely manner, don't call them undependable when they've come in countless times for others. Its very insulting and shows that you don't appreciate the work that they do or their time.

(This advice is specific to the manager running the Ballentine, SC store.)

I worked at Dollar Tree part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Overall the one good thing about this job was that there were opportunities to advance your career and become management... they prefer to hire from within.

    Cons

My managers were rude and their expectations were to do whatever they said, when they said it. They didn't train me, and I've had a lot of Retail experience so I just started doing tasks I already know how to do, and then I would get scolded bc I wasn't doing it right (to their standards)... and they pick favorites and play games with those below them

I have been working at Dollar Tree part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Easy work if you don't mind manual labor.

    Cons

Dollar tree does not value their employees. Their management also encourages employees to work off the clock. For example, I was scheduled to work until 9:30 on night, and the manager told me to clock out at 9:35. After I clocked out the manager said we still need to clean the store.

    Advice to Management

Please send your managers to management training.

    Advice to Management

Better wages, realistic goals, more FT positions
