I have been working at Dollar Tree full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Monthly bonus opportunities if you beat LY sales

    Cons

    No payroll
    Low pay
Did I mention no payroll? Worked like a slave with one cashier in the building besides you and that's if you're lucky. If you're a high volume store you might as well accept a trashy store. Because you will live on a register. No matter how determined you are there is literally no time to do anything besides ring up customers.

    Advice to Management

Give payroll to support traffic or lower your expectations. Pay is well below other retail salaries. Hands down worst job I've ever had.

    Pros

Got to meet alot of people

    Cons

Worked all the time one time i worked for 14 days straight little help no benefits because considered parttime but working full-time hr or way over and the manager would leave while still on the clock and ask cashiers and me to cover for her if anyone called looking for her and she would make it to where she never worked weekends or holidays i mean other peopl have kids too

    Advice to Management

My advice is to raise the pay peolpe cant live on 7.25 cashiers or 8.75 for ASM and wouldn't have so many people quitting all the time

I worked at Dollar Tree full-time

    Pros

    Meeting a lot of people.

    Cons

Full time cashier averages 14 hours weekly. If store is overstaffed you are sent home 30-45 minutes after clocking in. Least seniority, first to go. Manager only counts safe. Discrepancy charged to employee, and pockets safe overage.

    Advice to Management

Hire better managers. Give full time employees 40 hours, and clearly specify before hire. Stock and trucks personnel should do those jobs. Cashier shouldn't have to work unloading, stocking, cleaning store. Utilize more cashiers when line is longer than 4 people.

"Working at Dollar Tree can be described in one word: chaos."

    StarStarStarStarStar
    Current Employee - Anonymous Employee
    Current Employee - Anonymous Employee

    Pros

The best thing about working here is your work day goes by so fast because you are always busy. Being in charge of making the schedule has its perks, too.

    Cons

Expectations are beyond unrealistic at this company. They pay their associates minimum wage, give them 10-15 hours a week, and expect managers to work miracles. Communication with upper level management is a joke, and good luck getting anything fixed. They would rather slap bandaids over something than actually fix the problem. Working 3 Saturday's a month and never knowing if you're going to have to work every day of the week or open to close multiple days is not fun either.

    Advice to Management

There is a reason why the turnover rate is so high.
