I have been working at Dollar Tree full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

Fast paced, flexibility in merchandising, 401k, sales and margin bonuses, no credit cards to push on customers, no sales and tagging to worry about.. very minimal compared to other retailers

    Cons

Large work load, High volume stores with many policies and programs that are impossible to keep in place at all times with the amount of payroll to work with . It takes a very strong willed person with perseverance, patience and strong planning and organizational skills to deal with the clientele and daily tasks on top of the amount of replenishment and recovery needed to maintain a well functioning store that makes +1.5 million annually.

    Advice to Management

Planning tools are effective, appleseed etc,... but too much paperwork, paper wasted and things like stocking station are a waste of time where most stores are wasting time not using them properly anyway or faking them just to appease DMs. To many assistants hired as a body rather than for talent.

I worked at Dollar Tree full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Not the LOWEST pay in the business.

    Cons

Appalling lack of authorized employee hours- you end up doing most of the work yourself. Cookie-cutter, one-size-fits-all approach to EVERYTHING. They lie at local, district, and regional levels about minimum length of employment eligibility for benefits. NO teamwork among local management, everyone trying to get an edge over each other.

    Advice to Management

    Delete your account.

I worked at Dollar Tree full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Every item (minus the 2/$ 1.00 Cards) is $1.

    Cons

They think they can treat employees like garbage at garbage pay...get real. They don't drug test during an interview nor during regular employment status, i.e. I had to take the money to the bank upon being escorted by a cashier who lit up (no, not a cigarette) in eyesight. I told my Store manager and this was acceptable. WHAT?!

    Advice to Management

You need to hire people-persons for every job title in a retail store...that means - store managers, asm, cashiers, stockers, etc. Hiring arrogant store managers is part of your turnover of employees.

I have been working at Dollar Tree full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

The people are great. Great people can make for fun shifts.

    Cons

They don't care about employees. They cut your hours till you can't afford the insruance that you just signed up for.

    Advice to Management

Don't employ people that drink on the shift. That should be oblvious, and yet...
