Flexible schedule Easy work Self-managed You have more freedom than people would think depending on the store you are at.
Cons
Customers are always rude. You get the bare minimum of hours(18-25) and the pay is absolutely atrocious(minimum wage) with no possibility of a raise or promotion. Very mundane

Okay for a temporary job, but not much else.
Aug 31, 2014 - Dollar Tree Cashier in Tyler, TXRecommendCEO ApprovalBusiness OutlookPros
Dollar Tree is a great place to work if you are a high school or college student. They are flexible with scheduling and management is reasonable and competent. You gain experience in retail sales and customer service and also cashiering.
Cons
The starting pay is minimum wage and you only get the barest on raises once a year. Upper management isn't very clued in to what goes into stocking. Hours are often cut if the store doesn't make its sales goals. There isn't enough time given to stock the shelves, so merchandise often sits in the stock room collecting dust.

Raise the Pay Dollar Tree
Aug 8, 2021 - Assistant Manager in Philadelphia, PARecommendCEO ApprovalBusiness OutlookPros
Its a good first job but Dollar Tree doesn't do enough for their employees. I only still work there because I enjoy working with everyone at my store. We worked through this covid situation together keeping the store open while others lost staff and closed. Overall, the only valuable thing I got from working at Dollar Tree were the friends I made there, which includes the cashiers, other assistants, sm, and our dm.
Cons
Dollar Tree pays minimum wage to cashiers and expects so much when we're so short staffed. Most hourly associates are highly under paid and over pressured to keep the store open at any cost. They abuse salary managers making work more hours when what they are paid for. For anyone in management there is no work life balance with Dollar Tree. Corporate expects too much for what they are willing to pay for and it results being extremely short staffed. If they want to keep any of the good workers they still have they need to do more to make them feel valued, and not just order management to give associates cards.

I can't think of many pros. As an asst mgr. You are in a bad position. Store mgrs do not work required 2 nights a week . They spend most of the time on the phone with other Stores mgr.Complaining about District mgr .
Cons
Asst Mgr have to work for more night then they are told at the beginning. If you don't you are black balled. Pay is minimal and you are not allowed to speak with your Dm with out reporcussion.
