I have been working at Don Pablo's part-time

    Pros

-Fellow coworkers and managers are very nice to talk to/ be around (at least at my store)
-Due to hours, shifts are a reasonable length of time
-Majority tip-out cash payment, more convenient
-Usually flexible with scheduling so long as you mark off in advance
-Customers are usually understanding given the casual dining nature
-People will generally help you out if they aren't in a rush
-You are usually the least busy person in the restaurant
-The more personality you have, the easier customers will be especially when busy, practice in the mirror or something , make it your special skill

    Cons

-Type of fast environment where not doing something is punished (rightfully) but picking up slack or doing extra work is scarcely praised
-"Flexible shifts" = expect no consistency week to week in a schedule- usually comes only a few days in advance
-FOH is often blamed for kitchen mistakes, language barriers and misunderstandings often (ESPECIALLY with togo's which hosts are responsible for)
-For hosts, we help wipe and set when the busboys are really busy- which can mean we do their job while they go in back to be on their phone. This is the biggest one for me because I'll usually move at 2x their speed just to find a spot for people (usually booths per request) but they take their time with non-priority tables and like I state below, saying people need to wait for something in a half empty restaurant is embarrassing
-They knew I had a food safety certification so I was trained very quickly and not given a proper overview of the food/menu itself, where things were kept, etc despite sharing responsibilities with servers like taking togo orders and fixing them up

    Advice to Management

-Please don't sacrifice overall quality for guests with too few people on just because 'labor is too high' because simply, telling people they have to wait with a half empty restaurant is just embarrassing
-Higher up management (cooperate level) needs to better understand a stores needs and make suggestions instead of just giving managers orders when they are actually there day to day, usually the misinformed issues of cooperate just make an employees time harder in some trite way.
-Make an environment where people want to get comfortable and stay a while because employees come and go VERY often
