Former Employee - Business Unit Leader- Safety & Small Furniture in Bentonville, AR

I worked at Dorel full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

The teams are passionate about developing products that aid parents in raising their young children. The company is not afraid to support strategic programs. They have an extensive product line touching on all aspects of juvenile products.

    Cons

They could do more to support the brands in the eyes of consumers. This should help them get win increased placement at retail.

I have been working at Dorel full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

The top leaders have changed like socks every day. The current leader appears to be more down to earth and evokes serious business objectives.

Also, the culture is so relaxed it invites collaboration and great camaraderie, alcohol is consumed at most work events.

    Cons

Extremely frugal, the expectation is that you will travel coach at all times and eat junk food. Opportunities for growth are limited.

    Advice to Management

The same wheel is reinvented every year but products are launched at higher price, Sr Management should look hard at R&D, Sales and Marketing. Sales and Marketing are so weak DSG is so at disadvantage.

    Pros

Freedom to build your sales through an array of items to sell.

    Cons

Poor management - horrible commute - boring job - have to do a lot of manual labor. This was an office run by an independent representative of the company. She had no people skills and I witnessed her perform many inethical practices on numerous occasions. When we were not selling, we were in the showroom performing manual labor which was up t0 40% of the time.

    Advice to Management

The DER offices should be audited to see if standards are being met.

I have been working at Dorel full-time

    Pros

The new leadership team is making a huge impact on how much fun it is to come to work again. The products are much better, people are genuine again and the leadership corner in Wilton office is a hub of activity

    Cons

Norwalk is not a great location for riding. It was much easier when we were in Bethel. But, we still manage to ride almost everyday.

    Pros

Great working team. Decent pay. Fantastic benefits

    Cons

Shuffle employees around to different shifts. Cannot have stable family life. Never knew when your life would be changed by a shift change. Put employees with 13+ years seniority on third shift while temporary workers filled their first shift position

    Advice to Management

Treat your employees like they are more than a clock number.

I have been working at Dorel as an intern (Less than a year)

    Pros
