I worked at Dorman Products full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Good place to learn and build your resume

    Cons

Sink or swim environment. Cannot fit in any room with management their egos are much to large. If you are a "YES man" then this is the place for you but if management doesn't like you then you are doomed no matter what. Last few years they seem to be clearing out any employee with a higher salary, no points for loyalty or knowledge. Good luck if you are going in, I would recommend keeping your resume up to date.

    Advice to Management

Keep lining your pockets at the rate you are going this certainly won't last forever.

I have been working at Dorman Products full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Upper management will lie to you and tell you they don't retrain if you can't meet the already high expectations. They will retrain you if they like you. If they don't you are fired!

    Cons

Hectic. Unmanaged. Lower pay. Impossible goals.

    Advice to Management

Stop playing favorites. A human is a human regardless of if you like them or not.

    Pros

    I can't think of any.

    Cons

Find somewhere else, this place is a dungeon. There is zero company culture and management is terrible. Dorman has this ridiculous expectation that you should be ready to work 24/7 - forget about a work/life balance.

I worked at Dorman Products (More than 3 years)

    Pros

if you're into auto's some of it can be interesting, discounted parts, tuition reimbursement

    Cons

low pay, if you're not one of the chosen authoritative stormtroopers you're not going anywhere. I saw many analytical, consciousness and good human being employees trampled. Colmar breeds a limited scope.

    Advice to Management

Tap into the Philly job market and see what your missing. Keep around some of the youngs with challenging, interesting things to say.

    Pros

Some co-workers are great bathrooms are very clean
    You have smoking areas
    Somewhat good environment
    Pay is good
Bonuses are good if you can get them
    Alright insurance

    Cons

I worked at Dorman the Portland,TN facility four 4 yrs.before they let me go for some crap that was made up,i come in to work one day and a co-worker came to me saying " I heard you got fired?" Nope still here.So about 2 weeks go by and I just happen to loose something so I went to lost and found, and the HR person tells me he needs to talk to me,he tells me that Dorman no longer needs me. I say Ok why wasn't I told this two weeks ago when someone told me that they thought I was fired? He said he couldn't find me.????? You do have a intercom system, HELLO!!!! you could have called me over it? (Couldn't find me for two weeks that's bs.) Never the less I got fired for some bogus bull crap. so up yours Dorman and Dorman Management. you hired me without checking my education background I had no GED or Diploma so I'm just wondering who you hire without doing background checks? Murderer's, paedophiles just who do you hire you bunch of ignorant ungrateful people in management.

    Advice to Management

Make sure no one outside of management knows that someone is getting fired and do a complete background check, cause you'll never know who you hire.

I have been working at Dorman Products full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Work any hours you like, casual dress code, benefits are okay

    Cons

I have worked here many years and found that honest, hard work does not pay off at all. Dorman is a political minefield where saying or doing the wrong thing will get you permanently blacklisted or fired. The company has abandoned all professional development programs and instead moved to a head shrinker program aimed at weeding out the "weak links." This is unethical since a something sold as helping you is being used against you. Company has a "fire the lower third" mentality. I suggest you get in, get a few years of experience, and get out. Engineering department is redundant since suppliers can do everything themselves.

    Advice to Management

Stop playing political games, reward honesty and actual performance, stop constant restructuring

I have been working at Dorman Products full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

The cafeteria and the remodeling are nice upgrades to a very old, disgusting building. I can't wait for the rest of the offices to be done.

    Cons

Coworkers (called "contributors") are unprofessional back-stabbers.
Poor training. Bad management. Cult-like work environment.
