I have been working at Dorman Products full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Fast paced and growing company that cares about it's contributors.

    Cons

It is close to Philadelphia, but still about 40 miles away from the city. Also the local weather changes too quick. I was always a fan of the warmer weather which only lasts for a few short months here.

    Advice to Management

Encourage your employees to want to work hard. It is amazing what a person can achieve when positively motivated.

I have been working at Dorman Products full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Upper management will lie to you and tell you they don't retrain if you can't meet the already high expectations. They will retrain you if they like you. If they don't you are fired!

    Cons

Hectic. Unmanaged. Lower pay. Impossible goals.

    Advice to Management

Stop playing favorites. A human is a human regardless of if you like them or not.

    Pros

    I can't think of any.

    Cons

Find somewhere else, this place is a dungeon. There is zero company culture and management is terrible. Dorman has this ridiculous expectation that you should be ready to work 24/7 - forget about a work/life balance.

I worked at Dorman Products (More than 3 years)

    Pros

if you're into auto's some of it can be interesting, discounted parts, tuition reimbursement

    Cons

low pay, if you're not one of the chosen authoritative stormtroopers you're not going anywhere. I saw many analytical, consciousness and good human being employees trampled. Colmar breeds a limited scope.

    Advice to Management

Tap into the Philly job market and see what your missing. Keep around some of the youngs with challenging, interesting things to say.

    Pros

Some co-workers are great bathrooms are very clean
    You have smoking areas
    Somewhat good environment
    Pay is good
Bonuses are good if you can get them
    Alright insurance

    Cons

I worked at Dorman the Portland,TN facility four 4 yrs.before they let me go for some crap that was made up,i come in to work one day and a co-worker came to me saying " I heard you got fired?" Nope still here.So about 2 weeks go by and I just happen to loose something so I went to lost and found, and the HR person tells me he needs to talk to me,he tells me that Dorman no longer needs me. I say Ok why wasn't I told this two weeks ago when someone told me that they thought I was fired? He said he couldn't find me.????? You do have a intercom system, HELLO!!!! you could have called me over it? (Couldn't find me for two weeks that's bs.) Never the less I got fired for some bogus bull crap. so up yours Dorman and Dorman Management. you hired me without checking my education background I had no GED or Diploma so I'm just wondering who you hire without doing background checks? Murderer's, paedophiles just who do you hire you bunch of ignorant ungrateful people in management.

    Advice to Management

Make sure no one outside of management knows that someone is getting fired and do a complete background check, cause you'll never know who you hire.

    Pros

Work atmosphere is casual, working in the warehouse is a downside. Not climate controlled. Group leads loyalties vary depending on Supervisor or Department Manager

    Cons

Limited room for growth. Production rates vary greatly and often. High turnover rate. Drug tests for individuals involved in any accident, regardless of fault.

    Advice to Management

Do as you say, be an example, know and care about your people. When I started, I was a name, by the time I left, I was a number.

I have been working at Dorman Products full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Very friendly environment where people seem to like and have fun with each other. Lots of BBQ and team building events that allows for you to get to know your co-workers.

    Cons

Engineering work is not very fulfilling. Definitely a more business/product based company. From what I have seen and do, engineers tend to just look and approve parts but do very little of the actual engineering of it.
