I have been working at Dorman Products full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Very friendly environment where people seem to like and have fun with each other. Lots of BBQ and team building events that allows for you to get to know your co-workers.

    Cons

Engineering work is not very fulfilling. Definitely a more business/product based company. From what I have seen and do, engineers tend to just look and approve parts but do very little of the actual engineering of it.

    Pros

they offer lots of course to keep you up to date with the news programs.

    Cons

I'm a person that likes to be busy and because I want out of my way to make sure the job was done. Which then they expected thus all the time without no more money. Though some of the management don't work got a raise. They forget the hard working contributors and give the bonus and more money to contributors that they don't want to deal with. Look of high school grab that goes on there.

    Advice to Management

They really need to look at the contributors exactly doing the work.

    Pros

Great company culture. Good benefits and interesting people to work with on a daily basis. Management was fair and tried their best to help you achieve the career path you wanted.

    Cons

Although they profess to be creative and have their programs that they advance. They don't always provide the training to get you there. There is some good old boy systems in place and unless you are one of them, they tend to ignore you.

    Advice to Management

Make everyone feel like they are part of the culture. Managers are sometimes distant and do not take an interest in their employees.

    Pros

Unique ability to deliver specialized automotive repair products to a diverse aftermarket. They are agile, astute, profitable and quickly build barriers to competition. Middle management and lower level employees are wonderful to work with.

    Cons

Silo-based culture where too much time is spent on the politics and not enough on the customer. Mental intimidation is the norm and unless you're connected to the right people, you'll quickly be pigeon-holed into a subservient role and quickly hate life. If you don't pledge complete devotion by working around the clock, you'll be on the out quickly. They are quick to conduct unwarranted firings and are known to blackball even seasoned industry veterans; seldom if ever rehiring. Rigorous outdated non-competes should give any professional candidate pause.

    Advice to Management

Care about people not just shareholder value.
