I have been working at Dorschel Automotive full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Great atmosphere. Everyone is willing to help.

    Cons

Long hours. Draw pay. No salary. Have to battle with management to get time off.

    Advice to Management

Be more positive. Be more helpful and involved. Unglue yourselves from computer screens and go around the showroom to greet customers. Do more fly by's. Don't wait for salespeople to come to the office.

I worked at Dorschel Automotive full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Not enough money to lure me back.

    Cons

Horrible manager that just wants people kissing rears rather than trying to train anyone.

    Advice to Management

You need to get in touch with people that aren't at the top of the clique. When there have been so many employees lost in a department, that may be a sign that the manager isn't very good.

I worked at Dorschel Automotive full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Good atmosphere of friendly people, it's a teaching dealership for new techs, free lunch on saturdays

    Cons

Winters season sucks because of the amount of snow and lack of work.

    Advice to Management

Don't chase away the service managers who do right by the techs.

I worked at Dorschel Automotive full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

Dorschel is one of Upstate New York's largest automotive retailers but they are still a family owned and operated company that believes in the value of their employees. Opportunities for internal advancement, strong benefits packages, and frequent training opportunities are some of the company's strongest pros.

    Cons

Downsides of working at Dorschel are minimal but could include having to work outside in inclement weather (based on position).

    Advice to Management

Never lose sight of your greatest asset - your people! Keep working to build a business culture in which internal and external customers can flourish.

I have been working at Dorschel Automotive full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Friendly atmosphere. People know your name and treat you with respect. Lots of events and gatherings. They have contests to motivate you in the slow times of the year. Overall a great company to work for!

    Cons

I don't have any challenges. It's a job like any other. Every day there's something to do. Sales people are literally responsible for EVERYTHING.

    Advice to Management

    Communication is key!

    Pros

The Leadership was fantastic, offering great feedback and support. They give you ample time to learn the product and the process and allow you the freedom to run your own business.

    Cons

You have to be a self-starter, that's resilient and adaptable. The business isn't for the faint of heart. But for those with tenacity, that enjoy working with people and being the support they need to navigate a big purchase, it's the job for you.

    Advice to Management

Great job, feedback is clear and concise and the value of teamwork couldn't be overstated. Continue to work with the green leaders and you'll undoubtedly develop a team of all-stars!

I have been working at Dorschel Automotive full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

lunch sat is provided, work with a lot of great sales people,

    Cons

very misleading pay structure, too many sales consultants (24 or more at dorschel toyota) common to see only 1 person a day and sometimes none gets worse in the winter months , some team leaders are very condescending , rude and disrespect at the toyota branch.

    Advice to Management

be up front when disclosing how pay structure (Tell us we are paid 100% Commission instead of making it sound like we get paid 375 a week or our flat rate per car and product which ever is higher…let us know we have to pay our draw back …we make re-work compensation plans to more realistic numbers

    Pros

Everyone was very helpful in the beginning. Very structured environment.

    Cons

Shelf life of a manager is roughly 1-3 years. Then they spit you out like rotten fish. Loyalty does not pay. Don't expect a career here.

    Advice to Management

Look out for the ones above you, and hope you don't get blindsided like you have do to too msny.
