I worked at Douglas Emmett full-time

    Pros

Great location to work...right on the beach.

    Cons

Geeze, where do I start :( Such a tragic disappointment. I took a pay cut to come here. Worst decision ever. Over worked and under paid. If you are ok with a high stress job, constant criticism, negative feedback, zero praise for hard work, politics, managers that lead by fear, old school corporate mentality, stuffy environment, no perks, no casual Fridays, and feel like you are treated as a child, than this is the place for you. Beware of the FAKE reviews! These people are so crooked and sneaky. They make it mandatory to write a raving, glowing review about them only three days after your orientation. How can you judge accurately only after three days during the "honeymoon" period? The nerve of these people. Such false advertising its disgusting. Very typical corp environment. They pay you peanuts to to work three people's jobs. People have shared comments about other's that have left due to health issues from all the abuse and stress this place caused. I personally developed chest pain working here and I've never experienced that before since working here. Also, they have so many internal software programs with so many modules and levels of approval things don't get done on time and you get yelled at and blamed for it. Poor training too....need I say more :(

    Advice to Management

Restructure the whole company, spend more money on your people, value your people and be more human.

    Pros

Can't find any except my paycheck

    Cons

Too many, didn't actually fit this 20 word min. To summarize, if you are looking for professional work environment, thoughout process and procedures and respected for your skills, this is not a place. This is a place where you will learn that children can do a better job. Beware this company have money to cover things up easily.

    Advice to Management

Do a favor to humanity, you need psychological help.

We're did a freaking 4 score point come from so rig an fake you see the once that are unhappy are the maintenance dept.those are one of the most important pice of the puzzle and also look at the residential reviews there also unhappy you can't please them but still do the math Royalty meaning higher upper class get the money but the servants which is the cleaners and maintenance get the lowest money which is a lifeline of their business

    Cons

If you're psychiatrists or you want to psychologically play mind game with regionals and chief supervisor engineers property managers with the higher ups and then this is the right company for you

    Advice to Management

Just keep hiring temp Agency to work your company you don't want real minded people that are levelheaded personnel

    Pros

The best reasons to work there are to uncover snakes, and wolves in sheep's clothing.
Glad to be out of there.

    Cons

Fake management, who obviously have no conscience. Don't be surprised, you've been forewarned.

    Advice to Management

You are in the world, you aren't the world. Pay people enough so they might actually afford to live at one of your properties.

    Stay classy.

    Pros

The staff on multi levels are intelligent and great to work with.

    Cons

Low pay and high turnover. Outdated computer systems. Staff is overworked everywhere and very little training is provided. Lack of vision and willingness to change. Could be a good place - but c level management are closed minded and lead by fear. This creates a toxic work environment. Not much planning for team development. Company sends emails out to employees asking them to post positive reviews to this site - this is why there are so many recent positive reviews, all in the same time-frame.

    Advice to Management

Open your eyes to people and what they have to offer. Stop yelling and making people feel inferior. Share the Company's profits with your hard working team members

    Pros

It's a pay check, I honestly do not have any "Pros" to share, when interviewed you are completely LIED to!

    Cons

Job duties are NOT what corporate tells you! Over worked and under paid! Corporate office does NOT help other than harass and pressure you and are constantly threatened to be replaced regardless of your performance!!! Buildings are deteriorating! It's like stepping back To the 80's! Yet they THINK they are above their competition! Horrible management-
All the so-called "Great" reviews are from current employees that work in corporate office!!!! CONSTANT TURN OVER IN STAFF!!!

    Advice to Management

Take care of your employees! Pay them what the job calls for- your "corporate" team needs major adjustment, stop lying to potential employees! Take care of your buildings! Word of advice "Happy Employees = Excellent Results= Honest and Great Reviews! And MUCH Less turn-overs!!!

I worked at Douglas Emmett (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Where did all these positive reviews come from? All within a week too? Ratings were below a 3 now it's at 4? Most positive reviews are written by lifers or new employees who just started like a day ago. Pros: people are generally nice and a few good bosses to work for.

    Cons

Low pay. High turnover rate. Mgmt knows pay is below market but does nothing to keep employees. Culture is based on secrecy and fear. You really don't know what the job duties are of your fellow employees. They don't want to tell. When people leave the company no one knows where they are going based on retaliation from Douglas Emmett.

    Advice to Management

bring up pay to market standards and you won't have people leave so quickly. Too much workload and long hours with no incentive. Realize that the operations meeting and calling out employees in front of their peers might be okay for some but not okay for all. Competitors are making moves while Douglas Emmett just wants to hang on to Ventura blvd and the Warner center. Buildings are outdated. Get with 2015. this isn't 1987 with pay, buildings and horrendous management style.
