    Pros

Depends on your role. If you like to have a flexible work schedule, the corporate office in Indy will work with you; if you have to leave early to pick up the kids from school then you can start your work day early.

    Cons

If you are field sales representative their will be days when you feel very underpaid, but like most things in life this ebbs and flows. Not as much transparency on how to move to a higher job and salary level.

    Advice to Management

More transparency regarding opportunities for upward mobility for every position. It folks fully understand what he/she needs to do to improve than it will be more beneficial for all.

    Pros

Great company to work for. Lots of dedicated, smart people. Company invests in their products and their employees. Tremendous opportunities for advancement and continuous education and training.

    Cons

#1, it's in Indiana. Having moved there after living on both coasts, its like going back in time to the 1950s. People outside the company are very provincial. Racism and sexism are rampant. Sadly, some of this spills into the company as well. My direct supervisor, who still works there, was blatantly racist and sexist. And he played favorites. The company has core values, one of which is inclusion. When I spoke to him about a situation that I felt was exclusionary, that was the end for me. Immediately after that, I started getting uninvited to critical meetings. There was talk going on behind my back. And eventually my manager set me up and had me fired. And since I was a manager as well, and an "at will" employee, there was nothing I could do about it. The one upside is it got me out of Indiana.

    Advice to Management

Pay some attention to your functional leaders. Some of them have their own agendas and are treading a fine line with respect to outright discrimination.

    Pros

Good company to work for if you want to feel like you're making a difference. Research has a direct impact on food production in the world.

    Cons

Large management structure means that if you are not well skilled in tooting your own horn, your achievements get overlooked.

    Advice to Management

They need to take more interest in the day to day goings on of your employees, not just at review time.

    Pros

It's a matrix organization, therefore everyone including very senior leaders are very approachable. The people environment is very enjoyable, and the work hours are very flexible. We normally get very good life/work balance.

    Cons

It's a big company, therefore a lot of things happen quite slowly. The culture of collaboration sometimes turns into many meetings and discussions before any work can be done.

    Pros

Beautiful campus, great corporate culture, good work/life balance, and many wonderful people. Great ethical company.

    Cons

Favoritism by department management in this specific department. A great deal of confidence is placed on the favored person and the people leader doing so is mislead by the self serving information provided by the favorite. Leader only seeks information from favorite and has no interest in the opinions and development of others.

    Advice to Management

Everyone in a role as a people leader is not appropriate for the role and they cannot be trained into it. Identify their strengths and assign accordingly. Remove them from people leader responsibilities because they can and have destroyed the integrity and efficiency of the department. There is no respect for this leader.

    Pros

    - Pay is great
    - Flexibility in work schedule

    Cons

    - Treat contractors like second class citizens
    - Everything is decided in groups, so it takes forever to do anything
    - It's hard to initiate change

    Advice to Management

Not everyone is going to be a good "people leader," so quit making other people's resume look good at the expense of the subordinates beneath them
