I have been working at Dow Jones for less than a year

    Pros

People are generally helpful, in certain offices snack trays available on a complimentary basis, new ideas are considered.

    Cons

Poor communication within and across group lines whereas should work together for better results often sabotaging and or bad-mouth of others' wants and needs that may not be in line with tradition but are necessary to stay current in industry.

    Advice to Management

    Encourage more open discussion

I have been working at Dow Jones

    Pros

Pay, benefits, reasonable security (though who knows how long that will last). Some of the managers are nice.

    Cons

Advancement is tough, and the work can be monotonous. Some of the managers are petty tyrants.

    Advice to Management

Stop rearranging chairs and do something. The latest reorganization (by function rather than expertise) may not be the best way to go. It's certainly not good for careers.

I have been working at Dow Jones full-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

We work in a fantastic building with great facilities. We have numerous internal resource groups for women, parents, BAME employees, environmentalists. Pay is good and flexible working is offered.

    Cons

It seems difficult to move from middle management to senior level. The company has undergone a lot of restructuring and a lot of new appointments are senior people brought in from outside.

I worked at Dow Jones full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Actually left the company more than 5 years ago but the earliest possible year in the drop down list is 2015, so indicated as that. Good work life balance. Have the option of working-from-home. Very fun-loving colleagues. Young team with people from different nationalities and language proficiency. A good stepping stone for fresh graduates as the company brand name is well-known.

    Cons

Salary was not competitive then. Pay increment was not good. Lack of career advancement as the hierarchy was flat. Felt that there were lack of training for staff upgrading. Wonder if the situation is still as such.
