    Pros

Pay is only a little below competitive

    Cons

Adversarial work environment between operators and engineers. Pay raises are based on peer review. The employees are treated like garbage, management hands out a letter of appreciation to everyone in the department. Safety is of no real concern here.

    Advice to Management

    Hold supervisors accountable for mistakes.

I have been working at Dow full-time

    Pros

compensation and benefits, immediate vesting of 401(k) and generous matching

    Cons

bad management, hard place to be as woman or person of culture, little diversity of demographics or thought at the senior level, slow environment of promotions and advancement given large merger with DuPont, poor job security

    Advice to Management

Little diversity in senior ranks, tough place to work for women, unexpected move from urban center represents 2-4 hours of daily commute for urban dwellers

I have been working at Dow full-time

    Pros

    - Good Pay
    - Great Benefits (matching 401k & pension)
    - Fantastic co-workers

    Cons

    - Horrible management that believes in running the business through fear.
    - No room for advancement in Operations.
    - Leadership blackmails negative reviews or performance award by forcing Operators to take roles or different positions.
    - Management is out of tune of issues on the Operations floor. Safety concerns are not addressed but when something happens the Operators are blamed.

I worked at Dow (More than a year)

    Pros

Great Benefits. They have good Health Care, 401K, ESOP, and plenty of vacation. Work environment is usually pleasant. Fellow workers/team members are very helpful.

    Cons

No training. Very poor leadership. They expect you to work 10 hrs. a day minimum. There are no backups to take the vacation they give you. Very little chance for anything other than a lateral move. They assign you Six Sigma projects on top of the incredible work load. Forced ranking sets up competition with people who are on your team.

    Advice to Management

Hire enough people to actually run the company, and hire competent managers.

I have been working at Dow full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Excellent product, and co-workers that are dedicated. The product fills a niche hole in the wastewater industry. This product is an opportunity to make an incredible impact on the global environment.

    Cons

The Clean Filtration Subsidiary is a pressure cooker with an abusive, misogynist, racist, anti-Semite running the show. In my 20 plus year career I have never been belittled, threatened, and forced to suffer through racist, anti-semitic rants until coming to work here. Every week I was screamed at because I wouldn't fire my team on a whim. If you speak up you will be terminated.

    Advice to Management

Dow as a whole is an excellent organization. However this business unit will never fully meet its potential until this behavior is stopped.

    Pros

Pay is ok. But not worth it.

    Cons

They treat contractors like crap. They treat temps like they don't even matter. If you dont have any type of degree they wont even look at you. No matter how much experience you may have

    Advice to Management

Don't put someone in a position if they dont know what they are doing, just because they have a degree.

I worked at Dow full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Great pay and benefits. Good job rotation so you're not stuck doing repetitive work for an entire shift.

    Cons

Employees that don't do any work get paid more than those that do. Recognition program is just a popularity contest. You only get 2 holidays off a year, and it's a dice roll as to which two. There are no excused weather days, you must use vacation if it snows 12 inches. Seems kind of strange for a company that is supposedly so focused on safety. I guess they only want you safe while you're there, you must be reckless in order to get there. If you decide to leave the company, and do it the right way, you still have zero chance of getting rehired, it's the policy. If you do leave, they will do everything they can to see that you never get another job anywhere.

    Advice to Management

Step out on to the floor every once in a while and see who is actually working. Get rid of your no rehire policy. Treat people with respect. While there, I redesigned the end cap of a product, which saved countless rework hours. I was instrumental in helping the engineers reprogram the fiberglass equipment to allow for a new cheaper resin. I solved a tracking issue with one of the machines that even the engineers couldn't figure out for months, which in turn saved the company millions of dollars in downtime and lost material. All I got in return was to be constantly scheduled in the worst parts of the plant, a $100 bonus, and a bad employment reference. I could go on, but I hope by now you get the picture.
