    I worked at Dow full-time

    Pros

Strong culture of science and technology leading the way. Good work and life balance. Reasonable pay.

    Cons

It will be interesting to see how the merger and subsequent break-up with DuPont changes things. DuPont also has a strong culture.

    Advice to Management

Continue to take care of people during transition to three or more separate companies. Keep up the innovation and avoid the crutch of having high market share due to merger.

I worked at Dow full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Many opportunities for advancement as the company is very large, with jobs in nearly every field under the sun. Not as many contractors as other large firms, but still a fair number of them.

    Cons

Dow frequently acquires other firms and divests parts of itself which is good for the company overall, but employees feel that their jobs are always at risk. While not unique to this company, it seems as though the transitions are a major part of the work.

    Advice to Management

Pay more attention to the global employee survey and focus on the top 3 issues, putting serious effort behind fixing them.

    Pros

Dow is very transparent and provides information to employees fairly swiftly in comparison to other companies

    Cons

Company is constantly selling and purchasing assets, and you could end up being eliminated or your role.

    Advice to Management

Provide comparable salaries to the oil and gas industries where applicable
