I have been working at Doyle New York full-time

    Pros

Wide range of inventory Stable company Most people are pleasant Generous paid time off Owner is friendly and nice People are willing to help when asked Crew is normal and fun

    Cons

Salaries are too low Favoritism (especially for raises, gender pay gap is also present) Some of the older women in appraisals are catty and abrasive, yet keep getting promoted regardless of bad behavior (mood stabilizers aren't a bad idea) Work load isn't evenly distributed

    Advice to Management

Talk to employees acting out habitually individually to work on respectful ways to communicate. Give more raises. Divide and conquer on workloads. Keep on doing well :)

I worked at Doyle New York full-time

    Pros

Maybe that they gave us free lunch days of auctions, but only because they didn't want us to leave the building. And seeing antiques in person was nice.

    Cons

It was my first job out of college and the absolute worst experience ever. I am still scarred by how I was treated. No perks or motivation for employees to want to give their all, toxic environment, no encouragement to grow, fast and quick turnover rate. The department I worked in was a nightmare. Do yourself a favor, there are so many other wonderful employers to work for out there, do not settle for this company! Oh...

I have been working at Doyle New York full-time for more than a year

    Pros

This company is really good at bringing in entry-level employees who might not think they have the "right" experience - it is an excellent opportunity to break into the auction world.

    Cons

Salary is not fantastic and the whole company gives off the air of penny-pinching where they really shouldn't. Meanwhile, it's clear that the company is run by people who have worked there for decades and have risen to their positions and salaries through nepotism, rather than knowledge and merit. There is no HR department. All HR tasks are shared by the CFO and a finance person, neither of whom seem qualified or thrilled...

    Advice to Management

Take the young, bright people that you hire and invest in them. Don't just train them to be glorified secretaries, then shut them down when they show true interest in expanding their positions. If good people are going to stay, they need to see that there is the possibility of a medium and long term future for them in the company. Eliminate the members of the old guard that are holding the company back.
