I worked at Dr Pepper Snapple Group full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Good group of coworkers. 401k plan. You can move up pretty quickly to salesman but that's about it. Freedom to work by yourself without management constantly looking over your shoulder. Constantly on the move so that's a good thing if you don't want to be stuck to one place for eight hrs. Most of the time the merchandising supervisors are pretty cool and will go to bat for you as long as you're honest with them but don't get too attached since they'll probably quit within a year.

    Cons

Pay was non-competitive compared to other similar companies. Mileage reimbursement is among the lowest in the industry. Hours leave no time for family or friends. Expect to work 6 days a week about 50+ hrs while making Chinese overtime. Very high turnover with no support from upper management. Merchandisers are considered completely expendable. Depending on your area some salesman have the wrong impression that they are your boss. CDL training program is a joke. Knew a few guys who went through it but worked 6 months without ever even getting the chance to be in a truck since we were always so short handed in merchandising.

    Advice to Management

Start treating the merchandisers with respect. Constant warring between merchandisers and salesman leaves people completely demoralized. Branch manager has to work on his people skills. Too many times his only response to solving concerns or problems is to threaten. As the company currently stands, I could never in good conscience tell anyone to work for this company.

    Pros

DPSG has a full line of products that people are familiar with. The potential for growth is unlimited with this company. If you are willing to relocate, there are growth opportunities available.

    Cons

DPSG is unwilling to do the necessary things that companies their size should do. There is a big lack of communication within the ranks, alot of turn over, and most of the weight is placed directly on the salesmen to be the driving force of success on this company. Rarely ever received my full pay for work - mileage was always missing, commission was never right - incentives were always late. Also, company is not built to handle growth. Grew my route by almost 100 accounts, and my pay remained the same...even less....took six months or better to hire a driver. Was always left to merchandise, help make deliveries, as well as seeing all my customers, while covering parts, or all of 6 counties...not realistic

    Advice to Management

Set a standard, and do all of you can to help achieve it. Don't disappear when you are most needed. Increase visibility in more than just the market. Be an ACTUAL viable option in the community as well. Stop giving more attention to Dollar Generals than you do WALMART/KROGERS and the Large Format Stores that actually drive volume.

    Advice to Management

Take a good look at the ever changing market and change with it. That's why the competition is leaps and bounds ahead of you
