I have been working at DraftKings full-time for less than a year

    Pros

Great company culture, lots of young people looking to make a difference within the industry, team oriented environment - employees are encouraged to do great work to support your team and projects, growing company with lots of opportunities for upward mobility, hiring like crazy perks: mani-pedis, massages, game tickets, free food & snacks,

    Cons

People assume you need to love sports to work here - you don't, currently on a bunch of different floors so it feels like we are all very split up but we are moving to an awesome new space (biggest one floor office in Boston) so hopefully that will get better, over 80 percent men but I haven't noticed any real negatives around it...the company is starting a diversity initiative to improve these numbers

    Advice to Management

Keep making positive change and being transparent with your employees

I have been working at DraftKings full-time for less than a year

    Pros

Great people, nice perks, catered food, amazing office in Boston

    Cons

Ok Benefits like insurance and 401k, I am pretty sure we can do much better, change to 1 dollar for dollar match, improve insurance plans, maternity and paternity days can be increased.

    Advice to Management

Listen to ideas from your people and value them!

I have been working at DraftKings full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Generally the perks are good, the salary is competitive, and the people are intelligent. It’s also nice to have a stable core product and new ones that seem very promising.

    Cons

Much of the workforce is young and relatively inexperienced - lots of recent college grads. That can lead to newbie mistakes across the board. Jason is a fine CEO when addressing the details of running the business, but he has a tough time inspiring the workers. The company does reorgs relatively frequently, which don’t involve layoffs but do involve headaches and unknowns that impede effort. And it also isn’t sure what...

    Advice to Management

You guys need to lead more from the front. Step into view more often by trusting and then praising good work - especially when grassroots ideas take hold. Stop with all the secrecy around org charts and reshuffles - it makes it harder to do our job. And hire some more seasoned talent across the company, not just at the top but in senior and lead positions, so their experience and context can help season our younger employees.

I worked at DraftKings full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

Cool space, product is unbelievable to be apart of

    Cons

HR is completely missing. Employee after employee is leaving and no one is saying why. From my first day not one member of the HR team remains within the company. They have no process for growth. Favorites are picked and moved around the company on thrones. Hours are spent working at home, off hours and they can’t even hand out a holiday bonus??? I have worked the last 4 thanksgivings, Christmas and New Year’s Eve. All...

I have been working at DraftKings full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

Flexible schedule, decent healthcare, good office location, 401k, some decent colleagues.

    Cons

Sexism; Racism; Rampant nepotism; Favoritism; Incompetent HR; too many employees get away with doing subpar work while others are held to different standards (you will be thrown under the bus).

    Advice to Management

DK is one HR violation away from becoming an Uber/Nike/employment scandal. Instead of hiring more people to fix your issues, listen to your longtime employees who have been loyal. There is a reason why the seasoned employees are leaving. You should start cleaning house of employees who don’t do anything and get promoted/recognized. It creates hostility and resentment. The “culture” has changed tremendously and not for...

I have been working at DraftKings full-time for more than a year

    Pros

    - Constant new development and innovation, starting early on you will be expected to design, build, and test your own systems. - Ownership means learning all about the deployment, maintenance, and testing side of the process as well as coding. - Surrounded by excellent engineers. - Fun office perks and culture. Snacks, beer/wine, extra curricular events help build more personal relationships with coworkers - Flexible...

    Cons

    - Incredibly fast paced, and a "bias for action" means projects are often started before they are fully thought out. You will probably build at least one thing that doesn't get shipped or used in production. It can sometimes feel like the team is scrambling without a clear goal. - The engineering org structure is constantly changing, and career paths are not as clearly defined as they should be.

    Advice to Management

Try to fight for clearer specs before beginning projects. Realize that a poorly built project delivered sooner might hurt the company in the long term vs a well built project delivered later.

    Pros

    - Very strong technical talent - Interesting work, with real scale - Excellent workplace perks (Haircuts/Nails/Massages/Food on Friday) - Access to fun events; the box at Gillette stadium is great - Growing rapidly - Strong team vibe

    Cons

    - Our technical documentation needs some work

I worked at DraftKings for less than a year

    Pros

There is a fun atmosphere here, while working hard. The environment is fast-paced and there is always work to be done.

    Cons

As a 6 month contract employee, I was told there would be a hiring of 51% or more of our temp group to full-time. Out of 32 people, only two received a full-time offer. The communication towards the managerial staff is absolutely atrocious. We were not told when our last day would be, how it would work, or anything. There was never any discussion or heads up. On the final day, we walked in as a if it were a normal day,...
