    Pros

The Internet Sales Department provides a competitive environment amongst agents. Transparency is key when showing you their direction for the department and you are able to see where you rank on a daily scorecard based on the departments monthly metrics. Management is always looking to find ways to encourage agents as well as train on missed opportunities for both top and bottom performers alike. Management is open to suggestions to help build a positive environment where everyone can have a more pleasurable daily work experience. Promotions into management positions has to be earned, not just given to a top performer. Personal growth is assisted by feedback from direct supervisors as well as management throughout the company. The exposure allows other to move or transfer throughout the company.

    Cons

Quick growth (tax season) can affect the personal attention you receive from management, but that is expected in a fast paced environment where your Senior or Supervisor can also be juggling more agents and responsibilities.

Thank you for your review. We love hearing that you enjoy working with your team! We appreciate your feedback on the nearby traffic as we can imagine that poses some challenges. The bright side is that with traffic comes a lot of store visibility which is always great for sales leads. If you have any solutions that could help navigate the logistic challenges, we would love to hear them!

Great place to work if you need a job right out of college and a male

    Dec 4, 2012 - Operations Advisor

    Business Outlook

    Pros

The people really are great to work with and they occasionally have interesting contests like the Halloween costume or the make a commercial ones. If you have the right management the work environment can be fun and you have the potential to learn a lot.

    Cons

Unfortunately, you don't always get a great managing staff and if you do, it won't last. They'll move them to stores that need them and send you someone barely qualified to breathe on their own, much less manage. But since you're a store that's recognized as "great" they won't mind sending someone to you for their personal development. They change management around like they do their underwear and everyone has their own style of "leadership". I've actually been told I was going to move up into a new position by one and they switched mid-training for me. The new manager told me no two weeks before my promotion start date after 6 weeks of training for it. For most people, don't count on moving up unless you can be "one of the good ol' boys". Managers are frequently making friends with employees and -surprise!-, those are the people moving up. They go golfing and partying and only invite certain people, usually only guys. Good luck if you're a female...females have to fight twice as hard to make it in the company. I haven't seen one above a GM yet and she got demoted. It's not fair at all towards women on the retail side. People aren't moved based on merit at all. You can know more than the people in positions above you but if you're not kissing up to senior management you're not going anywhere. Management is also not always properly trained. I've had some of the most emotionally immature managers come through our store. Lately they've been so focused on sales that they're pulling shady moves to get customer into shady cars that have gotten more and more expensive over that past few months with no change in quality and are surprised and upset when customers get mad and return vehicles or take them to court. I don't blame any of them for doing so either. Also operations isn't paid nearly as much as they should. They run the dealerships, make sure all the titles (which secure the money for the loans they get to buy cars) are done properly, manage dealership budgets and work hours just as crazy as sales but they're paid almost half. Not to mention if the store is understaffed they have to do their job and everyone elses' as well.

    Awesome Company

    Jun 26, 2015 -  in Mesa, AZ

    Business Outlook

    Pros

There are numerous opportunities for growth and the company is very big on learning & coaching/feedback. Management is supportive and look out for your best interest. There's no separation between the agents and management/senior management, the approachability is very high. The work environment and culture is unlike any other company that I've worked for.

    Cons

Overall I would say there are no cons I can easily point out without nitpicking.

Great Company to Work for Considering the Sales Industry

Aug 3, 2019 - Senior Sales Advisor in Atlanta, GA
    Recommend
    CEO Approval
    Business Outlook

    Pros

    - Considering that the company is in the car sales industry it does try to provide work-life balance for staff. - When I was there the environment was often upbeat and the company encouraged a team environment where everyone worked together instead of being cutthroat. - The pay was fairly good considering that you have a base salary that you can count on and commission added on to that. - The company does believe in promoting from within, although it is often tainted with being a popularity contest in some cases.

    Cons

    - Commission structure could have been more lucrative. - There can tend to be long hours. - Promotions can can be limited in major areas such as Atlanta, but I often saw where the most popular person can be promoted over someone that is just as if not more deserving.

Former Employee Review - Retail Location

    Sep 29, 2010 -
    Recommend
    CEO Approval
    Business Outlook

    Pros

While working at DriveTime I gained some great experience that will carry over into other work environments. I worked in an office environment that involved various aspects of dealership operations from payments to titling. Therefore, all of the different aspects will help me in any future work environment from reception to title clerk at the DMV. DriveTime was very good about telling employees about what's going on at other dealerships and promotions. For the most part everyone got along quite well and were like a family. However, as with any office environment there's always a fair share of drama.

    Cons

Managerial staff at the location I worked at did not provide regular feedback on performance. When it came time for my first 6-month review to my final year, I heard very little on my performance and where I stood. If you are the type of employee who needs recognition and to know you are performing adequately than this particular location is not for you. However, I cannot speak for other locations and management who may compliment or give constructive criticism regularly. This is just from my personal experience!

We are dedicated to standing together with our #veterans and continuing to educate ourselves on how we can aid and honor those who are serving or who have served and their families.
