Physically draining over a projects time frame
No personal time. Overly booked and under staffed. Personnel availability deficient by 30 - 40%. Jobs are open but new hires are just unresponsive.

I have been working at Driveline Retail Merchandising part-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Have worked for DL a little over 4 years in two Territories GA and FL. Work is flexible and for the most part consistent. I'm able to collaborate with other industry merchandisers and meet all levels retailing constituents
Which is a great source of free training and knowledge.

    Cons

Dollar General is DL principal account with many projects ongoing however most of them are on a tight tome constraints; both sides work on a very minimal budget which puts unnecessary pressure on all parties.

    Advice to Management

STOP hiring DM not qualified to handle large territories and hiring just anyone who applies for merchandising positions. You must have integrity and cohesiveness to work in this field to be successful and I don't see it often with DL new hires. Give rate increases where they are due..

    Pros

Flexible schedule. Nobody breathing down your neck while you work. Appropriate pay.

    Cons

Part time job but bombard you with too much work. Lots of wasted time jobs (drive 25 minutes for a 30 minute job when you would only make about $6 for that 30 minutes with no mileage). Poor logistics.

    Advice to Management

    Be better with logistics.

I have been working at Driveline Retail Merchandising part-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Hours are slightly customizable, good for people who mainly want to do part-time work, can work at your own pace. They are very forgiving I you make mistakes, you may get a lecture but that's about it. You get weekends off so their is a lot of free time but don't plan on having enough money to do anything fall/winter unless you have more than 4 stores, which if you are planning on this being part-time you are not gonna want.

    Cons

Don't plan on ever getting much of a raise. They work you to death at the beginning of the year and then barely give you enough hours to get by during the fall/winter months. Its difficult to get a hold of your boss when you actually need help. Sometimes it is hard to get you work finished properly due to store conditions. Honestly I don't believe employees are getting paid enough for some of the work we are assigned, which leads me to also put in that some resets can be ridiculous. They work their good employees to hard and sweep the bad ones under the rug and do not fire them.
