I have been working at Dropbox full-time for more than a year

    Pros

    - Everyone who works here is super smart, humble and kind. The recruiting team has done a great job maintaining that culture as we've grown. - The perks are insanely generous, especially the food served in the Tuck Shop. - We're working on interesting problems and thinking critically and empathetically about how to improve the way people get work done - Especially in the younger parts of the company, there's...

    Cons

    - There's a lot of fear internally about breaking pieces of our business model or product or website that have traditionally worked well for the company, which stifles our own ability to take risks and innovate. - People are almost too nice, which had led to a culture where you need to get everyone's buy in before your project can move forward. This slows us down and also allows one person to block an entire project...

    Advice to Management

    - Get serious about setting up processes that will help move work forward, faster. - Don't be afraid to put a stake in the ground with your vision for the future of our product. If we can't commit to points of view around industry innovations, we'll get trounced by competitors who can. - Empower employees to take more risks. The lawyers shouldn't be the ones running the company.

I worked at Dropbox full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

Like many companies, Dropbox has amazing perks -- excellent food, really nice onsite gym, and there's no commute as it's located in SF. Most people at the company are nice, smart, humble, and hardworking, but the hiring bar has been lowered quite a bit over the last year. This is a great place to start your career if you're entry-level.

    Cons

All that glitters isn't gold. Despite the glitz of the perks, many people at Dropbox are really unhappy. This is due to several things: - Bad managers. Like, really bad. Very little training offered to new managers, and the company does not take action on managers who are consistently rated poorly or who have a lot of turnover on their team. - Very little career development. If you're mid-to-senior level and you're...

    Advice to Management

Stick to the values and raise the hiring bar. Stop hiring and promoting bad managers. Train new managers, and get rid of the ones who aren't effective. Provide greater development and mentorship opportunities for people who want them. Hire a more seasoned and effective HR team. Be fair and consistent with compensation and leveling decisions.

I have been working at Dropbox full-time for less than a year

    Pros

    * Incredibly bright, kind, and humble pool of talent. I have never met such a unique group of people and have made some of my best friends here over the last 2 years * Strong values - compared to other tech companies, Dropbox stays true to its core and continues to forge ahead without being super obnoxious by way of culture (other posts will talk about our entry-level/new grads who are entitled and have attitudes...welcome...

    Cons

    * Cash pay not as competitive as most tech companies...we still try to sell people on equity, which makes sense, but seeing that it's diluted and that the tech market is dying out right now, our execs need to acknowledge that handing out RSUs isn't going to cut it for the talent we want and need - and the folks we want to retain * Very high growth, fast moving so decisions can seem hasty or unthoughtful at times *...

    Advice to Management

Work on cash pay....we are seeing more and more regretable attrition amongst top talent whom probably felt no other choice but to leave for the $$$ offers out there, even if at heart, they preferred to stay at Dropbox Keep holding VPs and mid-management accountable for delegation and clarity when it comes to structuring their orgs. Exec team is pretty together, but this does not trickle down as well as it could/should...

I have been working at Dropbox full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Our founders -- Drew and Arash are amazing! They've built this tremendous company and yet are so humble and approachable. They are driving the best culture and values throughout the entire company. People -- smartest, nicest people I've ever worked with. There are no politics, everyone watches out for each other and tries to do the best work of their lives. Problems we get to solve -- we've built this simple,...

    Cons

What we're trying to accomplish takes a lot of effort. People often burn the midnight oil. That being said, the company is trying hard to give people the flexibility they need and is consciously focused on the needs of people with families (kids, etc.).

    Advice to Management

I think they're doing all the right things for the company, as we scale globally.

I have been working at Dropbox full-time

    Pros

Working at Dropbox was the best decision I ever made. I was a little wary before I interviewed, concerned that it might be just another hot tech company with inflated egos and over-the-top perks. Thankfully, these concerns were extremely far from the truth. I adore my team members -- they are incredibly talented, humble, passionate, hardworking, collaborative, and just generally good people. The flat organizational...

    Cons

There are definitely some growing pains; we've been growing so quickly that we've had to hack some solutions together. Now we need more established processes.

    Advice to Management

Stay true to our mission and values, and I'm confident we'll continue to thrive.

I have been working at Dropbox full-time for more than a year

    Pros

The opportunities to do new, different and interesting things while making a difference to the bottom line. The company and offices have a great vibe of fun and inclusiveness. The benefits are also amazing, especially the food in SF and Dublin.

    Cons

Quick growth mean things change a lot (which can be an issue sometimes) and some foundational work has yet to be done.

    Advice to Management

Keep doing what your doing mostly but constantly make sure the ship is heading in the right direction. Also, maybe save some $ and cut the silly swag.
