I have been working at Dropbox full-time

    Pros

    - Company Benefits: commuter benefits, free food (amazing!), health care (paid for by company), events that get everyone together, gym (and wellness subsidies), unlimited vacation, I could go on! - Culture (most leaders lead by example, everyone is super polite, people try to live the company values): I would say the best co-workers I've ever had. I love this people. They've become friends rather than colleagues. -...

    Cons

So why not 5 stars, you ask? Like others have mentioned, the company is growing, and with that come growing pains. They need to establish more processes to add the discipline needed with a big company. We don't want bureaucracy, but in big companies, unfortunately that's needed. We sometimes hire leaders that talk a big game, but when it comes down to it, don't know how to execute....

    Advice to Management

Don't get blinded by "glitzzy" candidates. Look for style & substance. Don't be afraid to establish processes that will help us remain disciplined and accountable. Set a direction and stick to it.

I have been working at Dropbox full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

Really strong engineering team. Teammates are curious and competent. I enjoy knowing that any random person I meet on a cross-functional project will generally be a pleasure to work with. Plenty of big challenges to sink your teeth into. If you're up for the task, career growth has a stellar trajectory. Work-life balance is excellent both on a weekly basis and regarding vacation. Unlimited vacation lives up to its...

    Cons

Managers frequently come from engineering which leads to uneven quality. This is both a cause and symptom of high churn at the lower levels of management -- bad if you subscribe to the idea that people work for good managers, not jobs. Let's just say that you should really like the job. Lots of competitors in the space. Unfortunately the heavy hitters are closer to existential threats rather than healthy rivals. ...

    Advice to Management

Control the quality of lower management more carefully. Outline a stronger technical and product strategy with a time horizon of greater than a year. While it's nice that so many of our recent innovations have come out of random engineers hacking around, it does diminish confidence in leadership's ability to, you know, lead. The recent rebranding, which appears to have been driven from the top down, makes my eyes...

    Pros

An amazing culture founded on amazing people. Brightest people I've worked with, coupled with autonomy and a very caring culture that lets you bring your entire self at work.

    Cons

Grew quickly and with that, comes growing pains. Depending on the team, there are different more or less experienced managers.

    Pros

    * People are honest, thoughtful, and interested in building great products over climbing the corporate ladder * Great focus on learning, with lots of awesome opportunities available for early-career employees * Still feels like a small company in many ways (friendly, casual)

    Cons

    * Still working out some growing pains on things like performance reviews as the company grows

I have been working at Dropbox full-time

    Pros

Really smart, motivated people. Very collaborative culture - people are always willing to help solve problems or answer questions. Amazing office space and fantastic perks.

    Cons

Growing pains as the company grows from a small, agile startup to something bigger that needs more process. Leadership can be hit or miss - some projects Dropbox executes on amazingly well but others feel like vanity projects for leadership that won't go anywhere.

I worked at Dropbox for more than 3 years

    Pros

awesome place to work! People are all very "nice". Some amazingly smart people work at Dropbox...the creator of Python, a couple ex-principal engineers from Google, and some top competition coders from MIT/Harvard/Stanford/etc just to name a few. Internally the culture and practices have really matured as well. Lots of investment in engineering tools and people development that didn't exist before. 3 years ago Dropbox...

    Cons

    - still some growing pains, but overall the company has become much more mature! - larger company makes it hard to know everyone and develop empathy for other teams and their goals

    Advice to Management

    - if you can sell the company for 20B, do it.
