    I worked at DuPont™ Danisco®

    Pros

This company went through an acquisition while I was an intern. Formerlly Genencor (a Danisco Division). It was a great place to work, had a positive work environment. There was always ways to find out more information about how each department/team was doing. The employees were able to get to know each other through different company sponsored events such as grill outs, softball teams and CR Kernels baseball nights.

    Cons

-As an intern in HR there wasn't any opportunities to stay with the company in Cedar Rapids after I graduated. If there had been I would still be there.

    Advice to Management

The managers were always willing to answer questions when I was helping source candidates and schedule interviews. It is an open environment and every is part of the team. Keep it up!

    I worked at DuPont™ Danisco® full-time for more than 4 years

    Pros

Good pay, great job, good hours. Great company events throughout the year. The job was pretty good actually. They also made sure you had the resources you needed to do your job well.

    Cons

A train wreck. When Danisco was acquired by DuPont things were really wild. Product was not available and customers that had been purchasing for years could not get their product. Employees were under a lot of pressure, frustrated and overworked. Management within the department I worked for was lacking. One manager (who was great) and two supervisors. One was too harsh on employees, the other one would hide behind his...

    Advice to Management

Address the issues. Compensate the performers well and be more stern with the slackers. Hire good leaders to take charge of some departments, not people who dislike confrontation and don't address issues. Value the 'little' people more - the big wigs already get recognition all the time.

    I worked at DuPont™ Danisco® full-time for more than 4 years

    Pros

Working only M-F, decent hours, okay pay, nice office.

    Cons

Overworked department, not appreciated enough, not much flexibility.

    Advice to Management

Trust employees more, given them more flexibility, not to micromanage so much, be on the same page as a management team.

    I worked at DuPont™ Danisco® full-time for more than 20 years

    Pros

Great people dedicated to a company that has no loyalty to its people.

    Cons

Ed Breen is nothing more than a hatchet man hell bent on destroying DuPont.

    Advice to Management

Time to practice what you preach. Respect for people went out the window with your 1700 person restructuring.

      I worked at DuPont™ Danisco®

      Pros

It is a very clean facility and is a growing business. Anything the site can produce is going out to customers and they are adding capacity wherever possible. Benefits are great.

      Cons

The technology and culture of the facility seem to be straight out of the 70's. From the way they run processes (no lean manufacturing principles in place) to the cultural standards. The professionalism of all staff was lacking and people are promoted and recognized for time on the job instead of quality of work or qualifications.

      Advice to Management

Start implementing industry standard practices and listening to employees when they offer growth opportunities or suggestions for improvement. Offering great benefits doesn't offset a declining and toxic environment.

I have been working at DuPont™ Danisco® full-time for more than 2 years

      Pros

Good training program, OK benefits (since DuPont took over, benefits declined drastically). If you hang out and go drinking with the bosses, you don't have to work as hard and you get great raises.

      Cons

If you DON'T hang out and go drinking with the bosses, you will get jobs no one wants and get no raise at all. Rotating/swing shift, changes from days to nights every two weeks. Management doesn't know how to fill in or do any task in any area of the plant. Managers will back each other-even when it means lying to your face. If you don't want to be in management, you have no opportunity to advance.

      Advice to Management

Clean house in management and get actual managers.
