I worked at DuPont Pioneer full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Flexible company, great location and services in the building, mostly casual attire, good PTO package.

    Cons

Lots of contracting and outsourcing going on. Employees losing jobs so it isn't the stable work place it used to be.

I have been working at DuPont Pioneer full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Decent pay and benefit package. 401k is matched at 7% which also is nice. Lots of PTO. Sick time is monitored and you will be questioned after a few days!

    Cons

Upper management has no clue about the whole process and doesn't understand. Labor is always an issue and we still continue to work 12hr shifts.

    Advice to Management

Listen to the operators, they are the professionals.

I have been working at DuPont Pioneer full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Lots of open minded people and good communication throughout the company. Plenty of flexibility to expand into different projects based off of your strengths or interests. People generally are very happy working here and spend the bulk of their careers here.

    Cons

Very divided between sales, production and research, hard to move across departments. Constant changes can make work and career planning difficult.

    Advice to Management

Encourage greater career opportunities and expect people to seek career advancement. Horizontal career movement is not career advancement.

I have been working at DuPont Pioneer full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

    Great employee benefits.
Lots of learning possibilities both, across department lines and industry wide.

    Cons

    Excessive turnover, including management.
    Constant dysfunction between departments.
Unsettled working environment due to on going merger activities.

    Advice to Management

Invest in a training program or department and create a path for employee advancement. Don't just hire from within because it's convenient during a hiring freeze, hire from within because you have a candidate who is truly qualified.

    Pros

Using interesting tools to solve difficult problems at scale. Management is very understanding of work/life balance.

    Cons

Too many meetings result in too much meta-work. Some co-workers aren't quite as motivated as you would expect. Still developing rigor around best practices, transitioning out of "wild west" coding practices.

    Advice to Management

Keep encouraging best practices and pushing the value of good coding standards, don't just push for the quickest working solution every time.

    Pros

    Great Company to work for.

    Cons

The merger causes a lot of tension.

    Advice to Management

Focus on job growth and promotion. Think about incentives for your individuals

I worked at DuPont Pioneer (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Few. Good people to work with but stress is very high.

    Cons

Awful management, the only person who ever reviews you is your direct reporting boss. If he sucks (almost always a "he") then your life will be awful. Fired two-thirds of staff in a growing company. This company will go down further, fast, with Ed Green in charge.

    Advice to Management

Forget the merger and focus on sales outside of the U.S.
