I worked at DuPont Pioneer full-time

    Pros

Engaging work environment and great people. Very collaborative. Decision making at the employee level.

    Cons

Tough environment going through merger. Will be better after that's over.

    Advice to Management

Keep communicating to the employees. Don't commit if you can't follow through. Just be honest.

I have been working at DuPont Pioneer full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

The legacy Pioneer Company is awesome; will it be lost in the Dow merger. Keep the legacy of the Original Pioneer Company.

Can be a good career place for some.

A lot of hard working, dedicated employees.

    Pioneer makes great products.

    Cons

Verbal abuse of Temporary Employees and New Hires is rediculous and is not in-line with company values to 'treat people with Respect'.

Tenured employees are allowed to make judgement calls on temporary employees. While performance reviews can be a good thing, 'tenured employees' have ZERO incentive in hiring others into the same pool of people. People who want to work and are good employees are at a disadvantage.

Hire up and let go then becomes an opportunity for wierd clicks to effect work.

Full time employees do not use hearing protection in some areas, including inside of LOTO bins where hearing protection is required and marked on signage.
Safety Office recognizes this and look the other way.

Probably the worst HR I have ever seen. Disorganized, disconnected, and regularly says things which are plainly untrue. Genuinely, forwards the 'use and abuse' situation with temporary agencies.

Some programs for onboarding such as the 'matrix' never really happen. HR programs are ineffective.

    Advice to Management

Create an Work culture of that is golden rule based.

Fire your HR at the Tipton, IN location and/or consider overhauling the way you onboard people.

If you promised something to an employee, respect that commitment.

    Better pay and benifits.

    End click behaviors.

Treat people with respect in pay, work conditions, and in influencing a work culture.

Senior Management safety stand down at harvest should be continued.

Don't allow your HR to use people in a shallow and petty way.

I worked at DuPont Pioneer full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Great pride in The Long Look history which guided the company since its founder, Henry Wallace was the President of the company.

Tremendous focus on corn seed as the core business. And most employees feel passionate this business and helping farmers.

    Cons

Now with the merger with Dow and DuPont there is much focus in cost reduction to meet synergy targets.

Paul Shickler was removed as President in December 2016 though his name and picture stay on the Glassdoor section about Pioneer still today. And he really has not been replaced. Strange and unfortunate.

    Advice to Management

Bring back the Long Long and keep Pioneer a stand alone company that can focus on seeds and have a true leader. Do not allow the activist shareholder cost reduction targets force Pioneer to do the wrong things. And keep the complexities of the merger and pending demerger away from the Pioneer people.

I worked at DuPont Pioneer full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

    Great benefits, good work/life balance

    Cons

Upper management is not friendly and ignorant of employees common problems. Too much politics and do not know how to use the
talent. Not much importance tomsceince. The company changed a lot in last 10 years and it will be an interesting company after the merger.

    Advice to Management

Stop pretending as if you do not know the employees problems; do not let talent leave the company; very few workers and too many managers; diversify and stop descrimination; change the useless HR ( they are rubber stamps management).

Pioneer people in the production plants are great to work with.

    Cons

DuPont takeover has ruined the company.

    Advice to Management

Give DuPont the boot and return to your agricultural roots.

I worked at DuPont Pioneer full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Decent pay, retirement plan used to be pretty good, matched 3% to our 6%. Flexible work hours. Sizeable cubicle and nobody clocked watched you.

    Cons

Working for the right person is half the battle. Working for the wrong person hurts you. Working for the wrong group hurts you. If you're working for the wrong boss on the wrong project it really didn't matter how hard you work. They tend to treat the computer people and safety people better than the lab people. If you don't have a PhD you generally have to follow the manager's research goals.

    Advice to Management

Treat everyone the same, no favoritism for certain types of work.
