I have been working at DuPont Pioneer full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Dupont gives you a lot of learning resources, such as language licenses, Lynda, software training. They promote for you to learn how to code and has great insurance, retirement :-)

    Cons

Once the team grows too much, communication starts to slipping away, in some teams there's no opportunity to develop and there are a lot of black holes that will suck up all the relevant projects.

    Advice to Management

Let everybody reach the leadership team and don't let project management monopolize every project.

I have been working at DuPont Pioneer full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Solid company trying to solve a serious problem for the world, i.e., how to feed 9 billion people. Good comp and benefits. Great culture.

    Cons

DuPont influence, which is waning, has been slightly negative. Not a lot of socialization between workers during or after work. Hard to break into some areas of the company due to tight clique (sales, for example).

    Advice to Management

Make hard decisions, don;t punt. Hire a more diverse pool--good ideas can come from non-ag people and people you don.t. Shake up the sales group for new blood.

    Pros

People, co workers care a great deal about each other and their work.
I work with individuals who will assist to their hearts content

    Cons

    Management needed serious re-wiring.
Management is capable of job functions, but the actual leading and motivation of personnel and morale is sorely lacking

    Advice to Management

Leading does not involve giving orders, leading involves isolating Key qualities in each employee and using those qualities to lift the team and company to great heights

    Pros

The people are kind and have a good quality work ethic.

    Cons

The company has lost it's family feel since being bought by DuPont. Now with the Dow merger, employees are losing their moral fast.

I have been working at DuPont Pioneer full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

I have over 25 years with Pioneer. I have seen a lot of great things happen when Pioneer leadership was in charge. Before DuPont took over we experienced some bad market conditions. Much worse than of current market conditions. Pioneer always survived and found ways to grow through these times and retain staff and keep the eye on the prize. Pioneer still have some great people who are trying to hold on to their career. DuPont is making it difficult by grabbing all their profits and disabling Pioneer to survive as they have done in the past.

    Cons

Most Pioneer management and upper management have been pushed out by old arrogant Plant management from DuPont. These people do not have an AG background and disrespect for Pioneer success in the past. DuPont's track record as of the past 15 to 20 years is terrible and known for ruining companies to the point that have to sell them off and cut their losses. They have done the same thing to Pioneer. They have run the company into the ground and now are going into a tail spin. They are cutting jobs and replacing with DuPont people who do not have a clue on the AG side of business. DuPont puts on a front that they have great respect for people and ethics and they shove this down your throat. Yet their actions do not display this.
Now with the merger of DOW and then a split into three companies DuPont has announced the leaders of the AG company. No surprise that they are all DuPont Executives who again have helped DuPont go into a tail spin and take Pioneer down with them. DuPont is just a bunch of money grabbers that has disabled Pioneer's beliefs and abilities to be the great company that they once were. Will be interesting to see if they survive. Right now its like working with people who are near death and is a very depressing environment.
They give spirit surveys once a year and are very upset when they don't come back favorable and they punish Pioneer for their honesty.
Paul Schickler is Pioneer and CEO of just Pioneer, but the CEO and executives of DuPont have pretty much disabled him to practice as Pioneer has in the past.

    Advice to Management

Put Pioneer back in charge of its own destiny and get DuPont executives and management out of the way otherwise Rest in Peace Pioneer. You once were the greatest Ag company in the world.

I have been working at DuPont Pioneer (More than 5 years)

    Pros

There are a lot of really good people who work for the Company and the benefits are really good.

    Cons

The IT systems are 20-30 years behind and there isn't investment in needed improvements and resources.
It is a good-ole'-boys club with next to no diversity in gender and other areas also at a corporate level in the production department.
There are not adequate budget allotments to allow for rewards and recognition to high performing individuals and teams.

    Advice to Management

    Invest in your people.

They pay well, the people are great to work with and the benefits are okay.

    Cons

Too much change happening too fast. Workloads increasing as layoffs continue throughout the company.

    Advice to Management

Stop letting Wallstreet dictate the agriculture business. Add a board member that is knowledgeable in agriculture.

I worked at DuPont Pioneer (More than 3 years)

    Pros

I enjoyed working with my peers. The bonus structure was good before it was changed.

    Cons

Blatant discrimination against women. If you aren't part of the "boy's club" you will never get promoted, despite exceeds performance reviews. Senior leadership are absolutely clueless. Research IT is sinking fast under the latest annual org structure.

    Advice to Management

Try following the core values instead of just preaching them. Respect for People includes those below you. After all, they are the ones doing the work. And Highest Ethical Behavior goes out the window when you promote your friends twice within 18 months (which is not supposed to be allowed under HR rules). But since promotions aren't announced, you think you are getting away with it. Some of the best workers there are women, don't let them walk out the door like I did.

    Advice to Management

Don't let greedy Breen run the business
