I worked at DuPont Pioneer (More than 3 years)

    Pros

I enjoyed working with my peers. The bonus structure was good before it was changed.

    Cons

Blatant discrimination against women. If you aren't part of the "boy's club" you will never get promoted, despite exceeds performance reviews. Senior leadership are absolutely clueless. Research IT is sinking fast under the latest annual org structure.

    Advice to Management

Try following the core values instead of just preaching them. Respect for People includes those below you. After all, they are the ones doing the work. And Highest Ethical Behavior goes out the window when you promote your friends twice within 18 months (which is not supposed to be allowed under HR rules). But since promotions aren't announced, you think you are getting away with it. Some of the best workers there are women, don't let them walk out the door like I did.

I have been working at DuPont Pioneer full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

I love the commercial unit team that I interact with and the enormous amount of information available to help our customers. Room to grow if your willing to work hard and move around. Great Salary

    Cons

the DuPont umbrella seems to stifle communication and innovation somewhat and they are out of touch with the real world, mostly worried about the investors. Work Life balance is difficult in fringe areas that have big geographies to cover. Merger has reduced morale. Benefits seem to continue to diminish,

    Advice to Management

more transparent and hold everyone accountable for their portion, get this merger over

I have been working at DuPont Pioneer full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

People and Flexibility and Research and Adaptable and Development and Personal Growth and Performance and Culture and Safety and Greenhouses and Soybeans

    Cons

Management and Company mergers and Research. You must remain on your toes and rely on co-workers rather than management because it's best to be self motivated that rely on management.

    Advice to Management

Immediate management was not receptive to getting a handle on day to day and instead relied on delegating out responsibilities and staying in meetings seven out of eight hours. This means that the company saved money by getting lower paid workers to do more without compensation, for example job title increase.

I have been working at DuPont Pioneer full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Lots of talented people. Interesting subject matter. Management recognizes and rewards talent. Coworkers genuinely care about you - joining Pioneer is like joining a big family. Less than 40 hour weeks.

    Cons

Typical corporate nonsense. Bureaucracy. Internal-only departments put very little emphasis on end user experience.

    Advice to Management

Streamline interaction between the infrastructure and development teams. Slow/unhelpful infrastructure support cripples innovations, speed of development, and developer morale.

I have been working at DuPont Pioneer full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Salary is nice for the DSM area. People are friendly and you are always provided the tools you need to get the job done. Safety is a priority here.

    Cons

Times are changing for this company and in the Ag sector. There have been a lot of layoffs from within and there will be more to follow. There are currently no opportunities for career development or advancement from within, which was not always the case. Raises and bonuses have been cut the past few years in order to make up for sales losses in this market. In order to succeed within this company, you must be willing to constantly adapt, learn new tasks and embrace the ever-changing direction of research goals.

    Advice to Management

Scientists do not always make the best managers. There is no review of management within the workplace.
