I worked at DuPont full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

This use to be a good company to work for a few years ago.

    Cons

DuPont only cares about making money. No matter how hard you work or how much you do, in the end you are just a number.

I have been working at DuPont full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Very little pros left. Can't think of one. It all started when the activist investor Nelson Peltz started messing things up

    Cons

Horrible new corporate culture. Executive management turned the relationship of every employee to a transactional one. Employees are just numbers on a piece of paper. So sad.

I worked at DuPont full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

DuPont is a staple in Delaware. Well known and respected company. Offers decent salaries and great benefits.

    Cons

Please understand this may not represent all departments in this organization, but in my department, things are a complete mess. The structure is not designed for success. Too many leaders and not enough workers. Poor communication and no thought of developing employees- unless you are part of the clique that deems you worthy. Of the few different options I had on the table before coming here- this was my choice and I'm thoroughly disappointed. Pay is great, but you will have no peace of mind and you're expected to work 15-20 hours a day. Work life balance is joke and company values are not valued at all.

    Advice to Management

Pay closer attention to your employees and what the needs are in your department. Leaders here are not trusted and a few of them are not even respected.

I worked at DuPont full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

I had the privilege of acquiring new skills during my employment.

    Cons

Since the merger of Dow/DuPont, many employees have lost their jobs. Very stressful year not knowing when you would get that tap on the shoulder and told you were no longer needed.

    Advice to Management

DuPont teaches respect for others. Management needs to relook at how they respect others.

I worked at DuPont (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Benefits, salary, good people, great work life balance

    Cons

Not knowing what the future holds. No job security and just chaos.

    Advice to Management

Be transparent and honest with your employees. You knew back in 2014 that you were secretly in negotiations with Dow, but instead, you deceived the employees stating that it was the Fresh Start initiative that identified the need to reduce staff, as we all know now, it was the Dow secret merger that was really in plan. Shame on you DuPont. Ellen left with her golden parachute.

I worked at DuPont full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Good pay. Nice weather. Some nice people to work with. Ice cream during the summer months. Decent bonus when we are able to get one.

    Cons

Some of the benefits are leaving. Working 12hr shift but only get paid for 8hrs on holiday pay. Forced to use 4hrs of person vacation to make up for 12hrs holiday pay. Management ask for operations input and turns around and do what the want regardless. Way to much of your personal business shared with management passed on to other in the plant. Way to much sleeping on the job and work being passed on to other shifts. HR is clueless on most policy's. Unsafe acts preformed daily and cover ups of issues. Way to much favoritism among some in operations with management. Sooner or later but much sooner this site with have an accident like the "La port Texas". Due to poor management and laziness of the employees at this site. Way to many Bosses and meeting and constant delay of production. Corporate is left in the dark on what goes on this site. Site safety manager doesn't even have a degree in safety and also clueless on safety procedures.

    Advice to Management

Replace DuPont management with Dow and do some real house cleaning.

    Pros

open culture, regular hours, smart coworkers

    Cons

no clear path for promotions, no career development, management not open to or producing new project ideas, research is plug and chug and not novel, constantly bleeding talent, raises are minimal and have been cut recently with bonuses, no accountability of management, too much bureaucracy, and no onsite HR

    Advice to Management

be open to new ideas, work on recruiting people to stay before trying to recruit new hires

I worked at DuPont (More than 10 years)

    Pros

It's hard to talk about pros because the company is no longer what it was. In all honesty I currently can't see any 'pro's other than a paycheck.

    Cons

Extremely stressful environment. Those that remain are in constant fear of layoffs and site closures. Was told point blank that after the merger there would be deeper cuts. You are not safe even if recently hired. If you decide to apply be prepared for the possibility of losing your job. Severance packages in 2017 will be next to nothing. Medical insurance has deteriorated to high deductible PPO. Out of pocket costs are considerable. If your family depends on your income look elsewhere. The DuPont that was no longer exists and the new DuPont does not invest in it's employees. Deep cuts in spending have reduced core values significantly. This review is not sour grapes. Everyone I know that still works for DuPont in Delaware believes they do not have a future with the company. Google articles about the CEO and the take over for more information and then decide if you think applying is worth it.
