I have been working at DuPont full-time

    Pros

Lots of time off, meals catered in on many occasions, great work environment, good people to work around and are allowed to work at your own pace.

    Cons

You have to do a lot of projects and other things that take a lot of time and effort that don't apply to your job and slow you down.

    Advice to Management

appreciate your employees more, give them more flexibility and ability to advance in all areas not just the ones that they are in.

    Pros

The benefits are still good, but eroding. The starting pay is very competitive. 401K match is class-leading. Great work life balance, extremely flexible though ti varies by manager.

    Cons

Moving upward without taking a managerial role is difficult, as is attaining visibility for accomplishments.I do not think these are more severe than other similar large companies. Your career success is highly dependent on your manager taking an effort to advocate.

    Advice to Management

it is imperative that you adapt your management style to a younger audience.

    Pros

Met lots of great people at the company. The culture overall is good, and lots of smart and hardworking people there. Benefit is good and decent pay.

    Cons

Many people are risk averse and avoid to make any big mistake by doing little. A lot of corporate changes now and will not recommend to people to come in looking for a new career.

    Advice to Management

Be bold and hold people accountable. Develop people and make people feel safe to take big risks to win. It is okay if we fail a couple times, but encourage people to win and think big.

    Advice to Management

I have been working at DuPont full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

    - Quality co-workers.
    - Some job security for above average performers, but not much.
    - Core values to the extend they truly believe in them.
    - Good Vacation package.

    Cons

    - Massive layoffs announced through emails with a picture of the CEO smiling included on the email announcement.
    - Lack of opportunity for career advancement, massive layoffs have left very competitive candidates with very few job advancement opportunities.
    - More layoffs are coming after the merger with Dow which is supposed to be completed by October 2016.
    - Salary freezes for 2016 and no bonuses in 2016 while CEO could earn $27 million in cash, stock and tax reimbursement payments in 2017 after the newly combined entity, dubbed DowDuPont, is broken up. Executive Vice President for DuPont's Agriculture division, James C. Collins' "golden parachute" could total as much as $16.5 million and C. Marc Doyle, executive vice president of several DuPont business lines, could earn as much as $13.7 million if he leaves.
    - Mood is depressing at the Chestnut Run Plaza headquarters. Sometimes hours go by without people talking to each other.
    - Information explaining why some major decisions are made take a long time to trickle down to employees creating more lack of trust with leadership.

    Advice to Management

Speed of trust is low in the company. I have low trust expectations towards our leaders. Maybe work on true leadership and truly lead with core values, even when it is not convenient.

Example: We have fired people for stealing toilet paper from our plant sites, yet our leaders have mislead some of our clients by telling them that our other DuPont plant sites don't have similar safety problems as the LaPorte facility which had 4 fatalities on November 2014.

It is ok to like money as long as you still love people... as long as...

I have been working at DuPont full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

    - Core Values
    - Again, Core Values
    - Career Opportunities
    - Respectful Work Environment
    - Policies and practices foster good work/life balance

    Cons

    - Compensation behind competition
    - Way too many levels before getting a manager position.
    - Matrix hierarchy slows decision making
    - Still many places for people that have a hard time to write their own job descriptions to hide

    Advice to Management

    - Get rid off the new global standardized roles list.
    - Reduce the number of steering committees. Several people use them to hide and they foster a culture of lack of accountability.
    - More aggressive compensation policy for middle management. DuPont should have less but more qualified accountable managers.
