I have been working at DuPont full-time

    Pros

Great people. Good salary. Safety. Average benefits. Good 401K match. Advancement at some levels.

    Cons

Management top-heavy. Unknowns about merger with Dow. Facilities could be better maintained. Limited growth at masters level and below (science communities tend to be PhD-centric).

    Advice to Management

Just because you have a PhD doesn't mean you are any good at management. You need business people in these positions.

I worked at DuPont full-time for more than 8 years

    Pros

Excellent people and diverse workforce. Very respectful and professional work environment. Good compensation and benefits. Beautiful new buildings at corporate headquarters in Wilmington, DE.

    Cons

Employee morale has been plummeting in recent years as the company goes through major restructuring and merger with Dow. Management's current expectations of "do more with less" can make workload feel unbearable at times.

    Advice to Management

Make sure employees feel recognized and appreciated during this tumultuous time. The next few years will be very challenging as employees are asked to take on more work while facing an uncertain future.

I have been working at DuPont

    Pros

Great co-workers, great job with meaningful work.

    Cons

Pay has been stagnant. Dupont is a large company with lots of bureaucracy, and nothings gets done. To make things worse, the merger with Dow has led to more cutting costs (unnecessary) and more work for already overly stressed workers, and has caused our best workers to move on to better jobs. This has lead to the deterioration of morale, and less productive workforce. Dupont loves to throw around how great it's... core values are, and expects everyone to follow them, yet treats their employees with very little respect. Management only cares about making as much money as possible, which leads to short sighted judgement that ultimately is hurting the company, and get this, make less money. Our company (a good company) was bought out a few years ago by Dupont, so I know both sides of the of how a company can operate and make huge profits.

    Advice to Management

Invest in your people, they are the key to your success. Letting experienced people go is hampering the company.
