I worked at Ducommun full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Start out at $10 an hour now with raises every 6 months until you top out at your pay scale. That usually takes 4-5 years

    Cons

They push teamwork and listening as what they are really good at but they have a long ways to go.

    Advice to Management

Follow your own "Ducommun Way" before expecting employees to

I have been working at Ducommun full-time

    Pros

I enjoy working at Ducommun because I am able to work independently on certain project and as a team for others. My supervisor is someone I look up to and enjoy learning from.

    Cons

Salary is a less than expected for the amount of work to complete and responsibility given. I don't mind doing the extra work. I just would like to be compensated for it. The bonus at the end of the year was much less than I thought it would be because it is based on sales....so don't consider it as part of your salary.

    Advice to Management

Offer higher salary or increase one's salary, if you know the department is short of people and the employee is doing a great job of balancing the work.

I worked at Ducommun full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

The company is well established and has a good (new) management team looking for ways to improve processes and move the company into the next era. Depending on who you work for, there can be good balance of work and work/life balance is encouraged. The corporate and shared services team was great to work with and to work in. New younger professionals brought a sense of involvement and were actively looking for ways to improve processes, which was not possible with employees that have been with the company for many years and are set in their ways.

    Cons

There can be over involvement of management in projects.
The company is very slow to change process (due to it's age, system and employee base limitations).
The work locations are usually not in the best areas so if you can negotiate some flexibility on that regard, you will have a good start.

    Advice to Management

Keep up the good work and listen to feedback from your teams. If there are five good leaders and one rotten one, you should move to improve that leader or replace him/her. Visions can get lost if there is even one bad apple so no matter what is talked about, be sure you have buy in from the carriers...real buy in...not lip service. Have action items and hold people accountable.

I worked at Ducommun (Less than a year)

    Pros

Good work life balance. If you are starting your career then it's a good place to learn how different departments function and work cohesively to get product out to the customer. You'll learn a lot since you may have to put on multiple hats, depending on your position.

    Cons

Pay & benefits are below market standard.
Still operates like things are being built in a garage except its much bigger.
Corporate is just interested in revenue without caring much for what can be done to bring in new business.

    Advice to Management

Corporate and Senior management needs to be changed.
