    Pros

Reasonable management, nice office building, responsive I.T. Department, nice break room

    Cons

They have finance people doing taxes and accounting people doing mail. Go figure.

    Advice to Management

We know that Duff and Phelps is happy with the candidates they receive from temp agencies and the temp agency is happy with the fee they're getting, but also consider the canidate's experience when selecting qualified or over-qualified temps and assigning job duties. When describing the job during the interview, please consider that we may be entertaining other job offers and that we expect to be doing the work described in the interview.

    Pros

You get a lot of responsibility for an entry level position. Good place to learn.

    Cons

Nepotism runs rampant. Director has wife under his group. Gossip between management and staff is constant. The work environment is hostile among employees.

    Pros

-Gain good technical skillsets through modeling
-Exposure to projects across various industries

    Cons

-Poor culture - stagnant and no camaraderie within the group
-Directors and above often disregard work life balance of junior level staff, and do not show appreciation for the effort put into the projects.
-Company offers very little career planning/development resources
-The work, especially the modeling, becomes mechanical after awhile.
-Total compensation is not reflective of the hours required for this position.

    Pros

Good pay, a few smart people, nice office. Solid benefits.

    Cons

No structure, no team and no events. The office is small but people don't interact with each other. West Coast practice is terrible. I would not recommend.

    Advice to Management

Don't look at your employees as billable hours. Start creating a team.

    Pros

Good place to build analytical skills. People are nice and the office environment is not too stressful. Get to work on different projects.

    Cons

The company doesn't care about retaining people. There is a high turnover and there is no career development. The company doesn't have any money to spend on social events.

I worked at Duff & Phelps full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

There are still some good people there. Work life balance is marginal, but good opportunities to learn.

    Cons

Culture was very collaborative years ago, not so much today. Managing directors run the show, and with a number of RIFs in the last few years, a lot of the good ones have left and the ones that are still there are willing to stab each other in the back to get credit for revenues.

    Advice to Management

Address the internal rot that is happening or you will continue to lose more good people. The pay is not better than competitors, so you will continue to lose the brightest and the best at all levels if the environment continues to be one where people don't like coming to work. The most capable people will go where they are rewarded with the best pay and an environment that is positive. Today, Duff does not have either of those.

I worked at Duff & Phelps full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

job security - if you are horrible, they will never fire you. you can lie on your timecard and no one will care as long as they can pass along your hours to their clients.

    Cons

bonuses are horrible and so is total comp relative to competitors. They are more interested in getting fees from clients that doing good work. If you are a good worker, you will constantly be asked to pick up the slack from other, bad workers but you will not be compensated for it and they will never be fired.

    Advice to Management

Stop being so greedy. If you want to retain and keep good talent you have to show the good talent that you care, both by career advancement opportunities and better pay than the less motivated or capable staff. Stop rewarding slackers that never show up and lie on their timecards.
