I have been working at Duke Clinical Research Institute full-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

None at this time. Only incentive to get out of bed each morning and make the slog into the building is that I like to have a roof over my head at night & food to eat every day.

    Cons

Too many chiefs, too few workers. Very overloaded/bloated management levels. Management is using the worst aspects of "Office Space" & "Dilbert" as their operational guide. Many good people leaving due to misuse of their skills. Thought there were opportunities for career development when I started, was dead wrong. Salaries for positions are below industry averages in spite of the so-called "salary review" completed in 2015. HR Department trying to make it seem like everyone is so happy when morale is at an all-time low. Having supervisors who do not know how to do their employees jobs but are responsible for the yearly performance reviews is a very good way to keep raises to a bare minimum. What little raise there is each year is not enough to cover the increases in the parking fees & insurance premiums.

I have been working at Duke Clinical Research Institute

    Pros

Beginning salary is a good starting point

    Cons

Not very many opportunities for out of cycle increases for assistants when they perform above and beyond. Yearly review only allows across the board increase just like someone who under performs.
